ONLINE RESOURCE
January is "Poverty Awareness in America Month" and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development has a website, PovertyUSA.org, to help develop awareness about the 43.6 million people in the United States who live below the poverty line. At their website you can visit a media center to view public service announcements, view facts about poverty, take a poverty tour, learn how others have overcome poverty and read suggestions on how to get involved. Hi Marist Young Adults,
The new year is traditionally a time to look back at the past and to look ahead to the future. As I reflect on the first semester, I am proud of all that has taken place in the Marist Young Adult Program: a revised website, new blogs, and the many regional and online spiritual, social and service activities. It is my hope that the spring semester will be equally fruitful.
As always, thanks for your support and interest in our programs. Feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas at Matt@MaristYoungAdult.com. Peace, Matt Fallon
Chair, Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee

MYAAC WINTER "MEETRETREAT"
The Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee met in Esopus during the weekend of January 7th-9th to build community, to evaluate the program and to look to the future. The weekend began with a "State of the Program" address by Matt Fallon, committee chair. Participants then spent time reflecting on the accomplishments of the program and addressing challenges. Time was included for relaxation, socialization and personal reflection. Team building was accompli shed through a series of ice breaker activities.
Can you tell that the group in the top left hand corner is forming a shark? And no, Daniella wasn't able to accomplish the "Minute to Win It" task and use her facial muscles to move a cookie from her forehead to her mouth! |
