ONLINE RESOURCE
Pray-as-you-go.com, a service of Jesuit Media Initiatives, provides MP3 and WMA downloads and podcasts for reflection. Combining music with the daily scripture and a guided reflection, the material is a very relaxing way to pray each day. The site also contains suggested body and breathing exercises to prepare for prayer and a review of the day. To check out the site, click on the icons above or below.
Thanks to Mike Martinez for suggesting this web site.
LOOKING TO DO SOME SERVICE?
Being of service is part of being Marist. Do you have a week, weekend or month to offer some service in Esopus? Young adults live and pray together in community while sharing their gifts and talents with others.
Look for information about a special service week in Esopus during the week of January 9th. For information about service, contact Bro. Steve at smilanfms@aol.com. ONLINE SERVICE OPPORTUNITY The season of giving is fast approaching. There is no better or easier way to give a gift than by simply visiting a web site and clicking on an icon. Each day The Hunger Site provides food to needy people for every click on their home page. Funding for the donations comes from advertising on the site. The Hunger Site also provides an online store for the purchase of fair trade items, a link to a UNICEF petition and free e-cards. How did you get involved with Marist?
I have always been involved in my community, which is something I get from my parents. So, when I went to high school I wanted to find a way that I could continue to stay involved. That's when I joined the Marist Youth student organization. After two years of membership, I was asked to become a Marist Youth Leader, and attend their annual conference in New York. My time in Poughkeepsie was like nothing else I had ever been to, and it was a truly unique experience.
How do you live out your Marist identity now?
Unfortunately, since going to college, my involvement with the Marist Community has lessened. Since then, my involvement has consisted of attending whatever function was going on, or simply walking back on campus, whenever I was back home. However, I am really looking forward to getting back to my Marist roots, and doing my part.
Why are you still involved with Marist? I live out my Marist identity today by staying true to that strong commitment to principle that was instilled in me by the Marist Brothers. |
