ONLINE RESOURCE

Pathways to Ministry

A project of Washington Theological Union, pathways2ministry.org is part of a series of efforts to connect to the "next generation" of pastoral leaders within the Church.  The web site contains a "virtual toolkit" of stategies and helpful hints.  The young adult section of the toolkit provides information and resources for volunteering and serving within the Church.  Of particular interest are the suggested links for discovering personality types, ministry strengths and spirituality styles.  To check out the site, click on the icon above. To access the young adult section, click on the image below.

Dear Young Adults,

It's that time again when we say goodbye to summer and begin the academic year!  Sadly I did not achieve the suntan I was hoping for and instead had to settle for a few painful sunburns.  I hope that you, unlike me, applied the necessary amount of sun block and were able to take a little time to relax this summer!

As you read this newsletter, I hope that you will find something that you have been looking for.  The Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee met in June to begin preparing the year and we have many opportunities in the works for you to continue to grow as a Christian, as a Marist, and as a young adult.  Please let me know if you have an idea or suggestion for an event. Perhaps your idea will be something others are looking for and together we can help to meet the needs of our growing Marist Young Adult Community!  You can contact me at my new e-mail address, mfallon03@gmail.com.

Twenty-two young adults served as group leaders, facilitators and workshop participants at Marist Youth 2010.  Several of the young adults present also shared their Marist experiences  during a panel presentation entitled "Living and Growing as Young Marists".

On the third day of the program, other young adults came to Marist College for "Marist Young Adult Day at Marist Youth".  Those who came for the day were treated to a special workshop entitled "Champagnat 201" presented by Bro. Michael Flanigan. Following the presentation the young adults ran the Champagnat games, attended the mass and danced the evening away.

How did you get involved with Marist?
I was chosen to go to the Marist Youth Retreat at Marist College in 2005 and ever since then I have been involved in Marist Youth activities and now in the Marist Young Adult program.

Why are you still involved with Marist?

I am still involved today mainly because of my experiences with the Marist community.  It is such a wonderful community to be a part of!  I also enjoy being able to bring the community together; our events and activities help people to find their way while helping the needy. I think it is really important to be able to spread our faith and influence others in a positive way.

How do you live out your Marist identity now?

I am Marist by being me-LOL-and by always having faith, believing in others and always looking for the positive side of any situation. I believe that we learn from our mistakes and that everything in life is a test; the choices we make and the reason why we make them is what makes us who we are. I enjoy life to the fullest :)
