Busted Halo, "an online magazine for spiritual seekers," offers many articles of interest for young adults. There are also a variety of resources available for college students. First year college students can benefit from the "Freshman Survival Guide."
Any college student might find the "Study Budget" to be a helpful tool to get organized.

In addition to a year-long service commitment the Marist Young Adult Program is offering short-term service opportunities doing retreat ministry and assisting at the Marist Brothers Retreat House. Dear Marist Young Adults,
Welcome to the beginning of a wonderful new year for the Marist Young Adult Program! I hope that your summer was restful and you spent some time reenergizing and having a lot of fun!
The Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee met in Esopus, NY over the summer to plan our year! I am happy to tell you that you can expect some of our annual events (Online Advent Retreat, YA Day of Fasting, Good Friday Retreat, etc ...) to continue this year. In the next few months you can expect new and exciting service opportunities, events for building social relationships, and the chance to continue spiritual growth.
It is my pleasure to offer you this September Newsletter. Each montlhy newsletter will feature information on past events and news on upcoming events. If you have an idea or suggestion for an event, please do not hesitate to contact me at Fallon85@gmail.com.
Know that as we begin this new academic year you are in the thoughts and prayers of Young Adults throughout the nation. In a special way this month please pray for Marist YA's returning to or transitioning into colleges across the country.

MYAAC MEETS TO SET FUTURE GOALS |
The Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee (MYAAC) met in Esopus, NY from July 24th-26th. In addition to planning activities for the upcoming academic year, the committee undertook a process of setting long term goals. The following goals were agreed upon:
***Create an effective structure of subcommittees including an active subcommittee in each region.
***Increase the number of in person service activities including foreign (mission) service activities.
***Increase membership in the Marist Young Adult program by 50%. ***Increase membership and participation in the Marist Young Adult Evangelization Community.
Specific action steps and time lines were created for each goal during the committee's August 16th conference call. |
MYAP SUPPORTS COLLEGE FRESHMEN
The Marist Young Adult Program (MYAP) is offering support to first year college students. The first of four college transitions chats was held on September 16th. During each chat those entering college are invited to share their concerns and discuss their experiences with seasoned college veterans. Katie Reilly, Katie Murphy, Lauren Lenzo and Irving Burbano are serving as the chat moderators. The remaining chats will take place in the chat room at www.MaristYoungAdtult.com on September 30th, October 14th and October 28th at 9 PM ET/8 PM CT. The chats will focus on social, spiritual and academic concerns. In addition to the chats, first year college students can read about and share experiences with Boston University freshman Danny Bradley through his blog or on twitter (dannyhbradley). | |

How did you get involved with Marist?
I started to go to Marist Youth Meetings at my high school, and it seamed interesting and entertaining so I decided to join.
Why are you still involved with Marist? I am still involved with Marist because serving other people fulfills me, as well as knowing that I make a positive impact on someone else's life.
How do you live out your Marist identity now? I live out my Marist identity by serving other people, praying and living my life with a positive attitude every single day.
