ONLINE SERVICE OPPORTUNITY
When it is difficult to pray, many people turn to prayer resources for help. Sometimes the best resource may be a prayer created by someone who is going through a similar experience. Why not provide a service to your fellow young adults by posting an original prayer in the prayer resources section at www.MaristYoungAdult.com?

ONLINE CHATS - "THE ALCHEMIST," "IRON MAN" AND " THE WILD RIDE FROM MIDTERMS TO FINALS" |
Over twenty young adults throughout the country participated in a variety of chats during the end of October and early November. First year college students participated in ia discussion with seasoned college veterans about the best ways to navigate the days leading up to finals. Other young adults explored "Iron Man, Iron Faith," looking at the themes of sacrifice and call in the movie "Iron Man." In mid-November several members of the online young adult community discussed how the allegorical journey in "The Alchemist" can help them along their spiritual journeys. Additional online chats are being planned for the spring semester. |

YA ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBER - MIKE SWEENEY |
Mike Sweeney
Graduate of Mt. St. Michael Academy - Bronx, NY
How did you get involved with Marist?
The first time I ever got involved with Marist was my sophomore year in 2005 when I attended the Marist Youth Conference at Marist College.
Why are you still involved with Marist?
I have been blessed with many extraordinaryexperiences with the brothers and the people I have met both on retreats and at otherMarist events. These opportunities helped me to grow both spirituality and mentally. I have come to find a deeper understanding of who I am and who I want to be. I have had such a great experience with the Marist community and it has definitely shaped me into who I am today.
How do you live out your Marist identity now? I try to live out the Marist quality of "Doing good quietly." I try to have a positive outlook on life and see the best in people. One vital component I have learned is to always look deep inside yourself and reflect upon your choices, relationships, faith, and friendships, in order to grow as a person.. | |
