World hunger
has reached a crisis level.  In the last three years, the cost of staples such as wheat, corn and rice have risen 83%.  People in some countries have taken to eating cakes made of mud, sugar and oil to combat hunger pangs.  What can you do?  Click on the ring above to visit one.org and learn more about the hunger crisis and to sign an online petition asking President Bush to be ready to take emergency action during the G8 summit in July.

kerryOur Lady of Lourdes HS(Poughkeepsie, NY) and Fordham University grad.  (2008).  Teach for America Corps Volunteer (2008-2009) San Francisco, CA.

How did you get involved with Marist? I became involved with Marist in my junior year at Our Lady of Lourdes High School. Brother Todd recruited a small group of my friends to participate in the February Encounter.  That May I was trained as a leader and have been involved with Encounters, Leadership and Youth Conferences, the Marist Youth Exchange Program in '04, and now the Marist Young Adult Program.
Why are you still involved with Marist? I am still involved with Marist because of the profound and meaningful role it has taken in my life. After the many retreats and conferences, it is still humbling to know all that I still have yet to learn about my relationship with others and my relationship with Jesus Christ and how those two work together in my life.
How do you live out your Marist identity now? I live out my Marist identity in how I choose to live my life, including my interactions with others, what I find meaningful and am involved in, and my attitude. Although I'm attending Fordham, a Jesuit institution, maintaining my Catholic identity becomes difficult at times. I have found friends in the activities that I am passionate about who accept and encourage who I am. They help me to live out my Marist identity everyday.
