MEET JOEY INSUA - YOUNG ADULT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBER

Christopher
Columbus HS (Miami) grad. - 18 years old - Freshman at the University of Florida

How did you get involved with Marist?
It's actually a funny story. I really had no exposure to retreats or anything of the sort until sophomore year of high school when my school's campus minister asked me to attend Marist Youth 2005, I thought it would just be a nice vacation. Little did I know it would be a life-changing experience. I left a new person, filled with the Marist spirit, and CHOSE not to let it go.
Why are you still involved with Marist?
Christopher Columbus High School helped shape me into the person I am today. I know very well that the reason for that is based on its Marist ideals. Without the Marist Brothers, I wouldn't be the same guy I am. It's the least I can do to help strengthen the Marist Young Adult community.
How do you live out your Marist identity now?
I try my very hardest to live Marist even though I live in a very different college setting. I know that it comes down to staying true to myself and my ideals, and surrounding myself with people who feel the same way. I still stay active. too. I led Marist Youth 2007, and hope to make an impact as a member on the Young Adult Advisory Committee.
Do you have a Marist story to share?
No, I don't have a particular story, but I feel like every day I live and have lived is a page in my greater book. I feel like every day I strengthen my relationship with God, and staying close to my Marist roots makes that even easier.

Best Wishes for a Happy Easter from the Marist Brothers and the Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee  Kerry
