From the IvyClimbing Desk:
Of all the questions I was asked of, two of them stick. The first is, "How do I get into Stanford?" and the second is "Why didn't I get into Stanford?"
In my heart, I continue to wish all admitted students could be those from Silicon Valley. In my mind, I know America will be much stronger if Stanford gives everyone a chance.
This year, Stanford admitted a boy whose dad never went to college. He was drafted to serve at Vietnam. With a 4F medical deferment for an injury he had received as a passenger in a car accident, he became a carpenter. With limited income, the boy lived with his family in a trailer for many years...
This story lifts my spirit. It gives me hope and confidence that the college system is moving in the right direction, despite all the admissions noises.
The 2009 admissions season has come to an end. The College Acceptance list is now available for view.
Thank you all, and best wishes,
