This year marks the second year of the Downtown Downers Grove's Gingerbread Festival. The Downtown will be kicking off the Holiday season with events and festivities the whole family can enjoy throughout the weekend.
FRIDAY, NOV. 23
morning begins with the popular Gingerbread House contest and brand new "Find the Gingerbread Man Downtown" contest, followed by story time at the Downers Grove Library, the tree lighting ceremony at the Main Street Train Station and Santa's first appearance at local restaurants and shops.
SATURDAY, NOV. 24
The festive weekend continues with tasty treats on the streets, visits with Santa in the Gingerbread House all weekend long and great dining and shopping specials.
SUNDAY, NOV. 25
morning you can enjoy breakfast with Santa at various restaurants. These special breakfasts will take place every Sunday up until Dec. 23. Sunday afternoon there will be horse-drawn carriage rides. This event will run on Sunday, Dec. 9, as well.

Tree Lighting Ceremony
will take place at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23 at the Downers Grove Main Street Train Station. The Downers Grove South High School band will lead the procession from the DG Library to the train station, along with Girl Scouts Troops, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and other groups who want to participate.
The community is invited to make ornaments to help decorate the tree. The ornament form is located on the Village of Downers Grove website and is due by Monday, Nov. 11.

is a fast-growing local charity working to build character and community commitment in high school students.
Come help support an organization that has been committed to providing scholarships to students who demonstrate character since 2004.
Last year, more than 5,100 people registered to take part in a Downers Grove Thanksgiving morning tradition with family and friends. Join them as they strive to reach new heights in 2012.
