The Sister City Telethon was a great success!

Many thanks go out to all of those who donated to Plymouth's sister city in Japan, Shichigahama.  The contributions were extremely generous! Together with the Plymouth residents the Rotary Club of Plymouth, The Town of Plymouth and PACTV raised over $60,000!  What a wonderful community effort!

Channel 5 and New England Cable Network covered parts of the telethon on their newscasts on March 22nd and 23rd.  If you would like to view channel 5's coverage of the telethon click on the link below:

Thank you again to all of those who are committed to helping Japan through this natural disaster.

Ella's ipads!

A first grade student at Indian Brook School, Ella Rombaldi, has created a wonderful charity called ipads for Ella.  Ella explained to her class that she wants to raise money in order to provide iPads for students in local hospitals.  Ella was inspired to do this by a family friend who died of leukemia at the age of 16.  While in the hospital the friend used an ipad to help him pass the long hours.  No matter how strong or weak he was he got much joy out of being able to use his iPad!

The students at Indian Brook have been helping Ella to reach her goal.  They have been donating their loose change and each first grader is counting up the coins to add up to a dollar.  Each dollar that is counted is posted on the bulletin board so that students can monitor their contributions.  As a team they also created a Public Service Announcement to help students better understand ways in which one can promote a charity.

Manomet Elementary News

The 4th graders at Manomet Elementary School recently held the Annual Leprechaun Trap Science Project Exhibit.  The object of the assignment was to construct a working device that will catch a wee leprechaun! The students were given instructions to incorporate at least 2 simple machines, have it be no longer than 18" X 24" in length, use only common household items and provide a written explanation of how the trap works and what simple machines were used.  They had to bring the traps to school on St. Patrick's Day and demonstrate how they work to the rest of the school. Fourth grade science teacher, Mrs. Nancy Cavicchi, oversees this exciting annual event.  Many of the student demonstrators even dressed for the occasion!
