·       The senior class in Cosmetology opened shop on Thursday showing professionalism, great time-management and teamwork. "Literacy Leads the Way" At PNHS:

In July 2009, the thirteen member PNHS literacy team created a slogan and logo, identified two goals, and developed an action plan that will develop literate adolescents.  By definition, literate adolescents know and use reading writing, listening, speaking, and thinking strategies to learn across all content areas, can demonstrate /communicate  learning to others who need to know, and can transfer that learning to new situations.  The slogan, "Literacy Leads the Way" is integrated into the logo located in the heading of Plymouth North Notes.  The two 2009-2010 literacy goals are as follows.

Goal #1: The Plymouth North community will demonstrate and develop a school-wide culture that prioritizes and promotes literacy development.
Goal #2: Teachers will consistently integrate high quality reading, writing and vocabulary instruction to improve all students' literacy development and content learning.

The literacy team will provide professional development and support on teacher instructional practices, collaborative classroom routines, and student learning strategies.  The goal is to transfer the strategies to students for independent use to think critically and deeply about what they read and learn.  The literacy team's action plan includes Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) every Friday during the 10:20am - 10:45 am PNN/Adv/DS/SSR period.  Silent Sustained Reading will begin on Friday, September 4th.  Students are expected to bring school appropriate reading materials.
Strategic Planning Stakeholders Survey Made Available

The Plymouth Public Schools is currently working with a large group of parents, teachers, administrators, and community members on a District Strategic Plan.  As part of the information-gathering process, we are asking parents and community members to complete a survey to help this group develop the Strategic Plan.  We are very interested in your opinion so that we may use this information to set the direction of and the future of the Plymouth Public Schools.

The Plymouth Public Schools Stakeholders Survey will take between 5-10 minutes and can be completed by clicking on the link below or you can complete a paper version of the survey that is available at several locations identified below.  The survey will be accepted until October 30th and your identity will be kept completely anonymous.  Once all the surveys are tabulated, the results will be shared on our school district website.

Paper copies are available at the Plymouth Public Libraries, Plymouth Town Hall and at all of Plymouth's school buildings.  Drop boxes are available at these locations for you to return your survey.

Thank you for your input.
