| Greetings! |
The crisp breeze of Autumn is upon us! Here at Marsh
Chapel, where the head of the Charles meets the heart of the country,
we are excited as ever about ministry in the partnership of the gospel.
Speaking of the heart of the country, we know your hearts will be
warmed by the singing of the Marsh Chapel Choir when they sing their annual Parents Weekend Concert. And speaking of the head of the Charles, we do hope you will join us during Parents Weekend for donuts and coffee on the BU Beach while taking in the Head of the Charles Regatta. If you prefer your athletics be more participatory, join us the weekend prior for our second annual CROP Walk. And if you are just looking for a good time, join us for a Halloween party and experience the Haunted Chapel.
Marsh Chapel is especially pleased this month to announce the State of Religion Report, given by Boston University Professor Emeritus Peter Berger on Tuesday, October 28 at 7PM in Morse Auditorium.
Now walk in love as Christ loved us, an offering and sacrifice to God.
Grace and Peace,
Br. Lawrence A. Whitney, LC+
University Chaplain for Community Life
The Rev. Dr. Robert Allan Hill
Dean of Marsh Chapel

Taize Prayer
|
|
It may seem odd to think of tens of thousands of young adults making
their way to a rural villiage in southern France each year to
participate in a weeklong meeting centered in prayer and the study of
scripture. It seems odd to the brothers of the Community of Taizé
too, even as they watch precisely this scene transpire in their midst
year after year. On the other hand, they must be doing something right,
and in the midst of a population of some 30,000 young adults, it seems
good to take stock of what is happening over there on the other side of
the pond.

CROP Walk
|
On Sunday, October 12, Marsh Chapel will be sponsoring its second annual CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Hunger Walk. Students from throughout Boston University and members of Marsh Chapel as well as other local Boston churches will be teaming up with the help of area businesses to gather pledges.

State of Religion Report
|
|
While it may have been popular for a time to write off religion as a
thing of the past, the folly of doing so is dramatically apparent in
these early years of the 21st century. However, even though the
importance of religion has entered popular consciousness, less well
understood is why religion is important and what exactly religion is
doing. Thankfully, Boston University Professor Emeritus Peter Berger
has been at the forefront of examining just these issues for several
decades.

Haunted Chapel
|
Scary things hang out in the basements of chapels. Chaplains! Church
Mice! Deans! Join us, in costume, for bobbing
for apples, painting pumpkins, watching Charlie Brown and the Great
Pumpkin, and yes, the obligatory donut eating contest. Cost of entry:
one canned good to benefit the Boston Medical Center food pantry.
