| Greetings! |
Welcome to the new and improved look of the Marsh Chapel e-newsletter, "Common Ground." The look of the email version of the newsletter is designed to coincide with the new look of our website. Our newsletter is also greatly expanded by the new website's capacity to provide a depth dimension such that brief coverage is given in the email and title page with full articles deeper in the newsletter section of the site.
We do hope you will join us this coming Sunday, September 7, for our annual Matriculation Service during the regular 11AM Interdenominational Worship Service. Following this service in recognition of leadership in the Marsh Chapel community is lunch in Barristers' Hall at the School of Law and an Ice Cream Social on the BU Beach.
Now walk in love, as Christ loves us, an offering and sacrifice to God.
Grace and peace,
Br. Lawrence A. Whitney, LC+ University Chaplain for Community Life
The Rev. Dr. Robert Allan Hill Dean of Marsh Chapel

Associate Chaplains
|
|
The fall term is under way and Marsh Chapel welcomes a new group of
Associates providing ministry in the partnership of the gospel across
the Boston University Campus. Chapel Associates are part-time chaplains
focusing on particular constituencies in the University. Ministry
Associates also have particular areas of focus and are field education
students from the School of Theology. Marsh Associates are
undergraduates exploring ministry and vocation in partnership with one
of the Chapel or Ministry Associates.

Elizabeth Fomby
|
|
A special word of welcome to our new staff coordinator and director of hospitality, Elizabeth
Fomby. Elizabeth joined the Marsh Chapel congregation during the spring
of last year. She filled a much needed role coordinating our main
office this past summer and that role has been made full-time and
permanent as of the start of this school year. Elizabeth coordinates
work-study students in the main office, provides hospitality to chapel
visitors throughout the day, is helping manage member information and support development work, and
will be handling scheduling in the near future. Please drop by and
welcome Elizabeth among us in this new role.

First Week Events
|
|
Our various first-week events have gone swimmingly. Actually, no one
has gone swimming but some did run through the fountain at the
Christian Science Plaza after the duck tour. Here are some pictures and
captions from our first-week events.

Weekly Schedule
|
Our regular weekly schedule for the semester begins on Monday, September 8, 2008. Please join us for these offerings of worship, fellowship, service and study.

Taizé Prayer
|
|
Each week of the summer, 3,000-6,000 young adults from across the globle join the brothers of the Community of Taizé
in the villiage of Taizé in southern France for meetings - weeklong
periods of prayer, bible study and service to the community. Here at Marsh Chapel, it is our desire to share in the prayerful
experience, across denominational lines, that the Community of Taizé
has developed. Each second Wednesday we gather in the nave of Marsh
Chapel to pray in song and word and silence. Join us in what Br. Roger
of Taizé called "the pilgrimage of trust on earth."
|
| Stewardship |
We hope you will join us in the partnership of the gospel by
contributing, as you are able, your time and your talents, your gifts
and your service, to the glory of God.
