Private Collection
An Exhibition of Extraordinary Paintings
Gratz Gallery & Conservation Studio
Gratz Gallery & Conservation Studio is proud to announce a special Private Collection exhibition from
NOW through Friday, August 31, 2012.
This exhibition features a selection of paintings from one of Bucks County's most extraordinary private collections. The paintings were purchased over many years by one of the country's most prominent collectors of American Impressionism, specifically the New Hope School, and have not been available on the market for years.
The collection features two beautiful paintings by the revered Pennsylvania Impressionist, Daniel Garber. Each painting demonstrates why Garber was considered one of the premier artists from the New Hope Circle. Fellow Impressionist, Edward Redfield's work is also included in the exhibition. New Hope in Winter is a beautiful composition depicting a snow-covered street in New Hope; complete with a horse drawn carriage and figures preparing their sled. Additional highlights include a selection of works by Fern Coppedge and a very rare example of fellow Philadelphia Ten alumnae, Helen Kiner McCarthy's work. There are also paintings by Harry Leith-Ross, Kenneth Nunamaker, Rae Sloan Bredin, Mary Elizabeth Price, William Francis Taylor and Roy Nuse. A rare oil on canvas by Frank F. English is also available.
A catalog of the show will be available on the Gratz Gallery & Conservation Studio website prior to the event. Visit www.gratzgallery.com to preview the exhibition.
Located at 68 S. Main Street in Doylestown, Gratz Gallery and Conservation Studio features 19th and 20th century American Art, as well as museum quality fine art conservation services and custom framing. The gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Sundays, 12:00 noon - 6:00 p.m., as well as by appointment. Call 215-348-2500 or visit the Gratz Gallery & Conservation Studio website at www.gratzgallery.com.

LEGALLY BLONDE comes to Washington Crossing Theatre |

BROADWAY HIT LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL COMES TO THE OPEN AIR THEATRE FOR TWO WEEKENDS
The Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre is going blonde in July when Legally Blonde The Musical makes a stop for two weekends. Presented by the Once Upon A Time Players, Legally Blonde The Musical will be performed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm from July 6 through July 15, 2012.
Based on the hit movie, Legally Blonde The Musical is a fresh and effervescent evening of musical fun, stylishly wrapped up in a smart pink bow. Elle Woods is the college sweetheart and homecoming queen who doesn't take no for an answer. When her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her for someone 'serious', Elle puts down the credit cards, hits the books and heads for Harvard Law School. Along the way, she proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.
With book by Heather Hach and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, Legally Blonde The Musical features a high energy pop music score. This production of Legally Blonde The Musical is presented by the Once Upon A Time Players. Under the artistic direction of Brendan Stackhouse, the group has been a theatrical force in the region since 2006. Presenting six to nine shows each year, the Once Upon a Time Players have entertained audiences in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania and has previously brought Into the Woods in 2010 and Urinetown in 2011 to the Open Air Theatre. The group was here last month to present Avenue Q.
The Once Upon A Time Players production of Legally Blonde The Musical will be performed at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre on Friday, July 6, Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8 at 7:30 pm. A second weekend of performances will take place on Friday, July 13, Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children (ages 12 and under). A senior ticket of $12 is available for anyone 65 years of age and older. Group discounts are available to groups of 12 persons or more as well as a special 10-Show Ticket Package. Tickets can always be purchased at the Open Air Theatre Box Office prior to the performance.

PLEIN AIR "PAINT OUT" WEEKEND |
| |
"Local Color Weekend" Plein Air Paint Out to be Hosted at Bucks County Gallery of Fine Art
July 26th - 29th will be the first ever Plein Air Paint Out Weekend in Bucks County PA. history.
A never before hosted in Bucks County art event - Local Color is an extended weekend Plein Air event being hosted by gallery owner Howard Cooperman at the Bucks County Gallery of Fine Art located in New Hope PA.
It is the birthplace of the New Hope School Artists including E.W. Redfield, Walter Baum, Daniel Garber, George Sotter, Fern Coppedge, and others. Also known as the Pennsylvania Impressionist's and American Impressionist's.
Similar to the French impressionist movement, this style of art is characterized by an interest in the quality of color, light, and the time of day. This group of artists usually painted en plein air, or out of doors, to capture the moment. According to James A. Michener Art Museum's Senior Curator Brian Peterson, "what most characterized Pennsylvania impressionism was not a single, unified style but rather the emergence of many mature, distinctive voices: Daniel Garber's luminous, poetic renditions of the Delaware River; Fern Coppedge's colorful village scenes; Robert Spencer's lyrical views of mills and tenements; John Folinsbee's moody, expressionistic snowscapes; and William L. Lathrop's deeply felt, evocative Bucks County vistas.
