100 Years of Service...And Counting!
The 100th Anniversary Service Patch is still available in our GS shops!
In order to earn this patch, girls must participate in four service projects, one of which must be a GSUSA Forever Green project.
Girls have all of 2012 to develop and execute/participate in the remaining service projects to complete the requirements of the Service Patch.
About 10,000 girls have earned at least ¼ of this patch through their participation in Treasure for Trees. As part of a council-wide service project, girls participated in planting and caring for a Fat Albert Colorado Bruce, their special 100th Anniversary Service Unit evergreen.
Congratulations to the following 105 Service Units who participated:

Reminder! Let Your Voices Be Heard! Sign up for Girl Scout Voices!
Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana and the Girl Scout Research Institute (GSRI) have partnered to provide opportunities for girls to share their thoughts and feelings about their experiences in Girl Scouting.
Completing this initial registration survey will help our council and GSUSA send relevant, age-appropriate surveys in the future. Information provided on these surveys is important to help us understand how to create the best possible programs for all the Girl Scouts. If you or your Girl Scout is under 13, parental consent is required.
Additionally, Juniors and Cadettes who register before April 6 will have the chance to win one of 20 VISA gift cards worth $100 from the GSRI. (Winners will be announced by May 15th. Odds of winning depend on the number of Juniors and Cadettes from participating councils who sign up.) Please register today!

Volunteer Spotlight | | |
GSGCNWI Proudly Recognizes One of Our Own
We always love honoring our volunteers, and this time our spotlight shines on Theresa O'Shea. Theresa volunteers a lot of her time to Girl Scouting and is most proud of her work as a council trainer. She facilitates far more trainings than expected, and when other trainers are unavailable, Theresa steps in to take over classes so they don't get canceled. At a time when there was a shortage of First Aid/CPR trainers in the south region, she became a certified Red Cross trainer, stepping up and helping increase the number of classes available. |
