The reached reaching others                                  09 July 2012
Greetings!

We were at a friend's place in Auckland for what turned out to be something of a reunion. Several people from the early years of Pacific Partners (the 90's) were there. People who had been through our Pacific Partners discipleship program, and some who had been radio hosts. Some I hadn't seen for years.

Among them were there two Tongan girls. (Actually, they are mature women now. But I still think of them as girls.) Both have medical qualifications and both are vocational missionaries in 'difficult' parts of the world (so I won't use their names).

"And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses,

commit the same to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." (2 Timothy 2:2 MKJV)

Abundantly more . . .

"Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, forever. Amen."

(Ephesians 3:20-21 MKJV)

Thank you very much for your Partnership in the Gospel for the people of the South Pacific Islands.

Passing on what they have received
A . . . is a general practice physician.

I remember when she was sitting her final medical exams. She

Personal, in-depth Bible study is a big part of the Pacific Partners ministry to disciple the Island nations
Applied Bible study is a big part of the Pacific Partners radio and discipleship ministry.

didn't have the space and peace needed to study at home so I gave her the keys to my office. She would study into the night and then sleep. (I didn't have a sofa so she must have slept on the floor or in a chair.)

Lately she has led medical missions and outreach teams to a central European country. Now she tells me she is planning to quit her practice and go back as a career missionary.

N . . . used to be one of our popular radio hosts and now she trains mental health practitioners.

N . . . emailed me from the Middle East a few months ago and put me in touch with a young man who wants to use radio to reach his (mainly Muslim) community. He knew the standard model of Christian radio would not work in his country. I was able to tell him how we have developed a different way of using radio in the Islands that is much more appropriate for his community.

N . . . is also preparing to go back as a full-time career missionary to the Middle East.

What a wonderful reunion it was.

Why am I telling you this?

Firstly, to thank and encourage you.

You need to know about A . . . and N . . . because they are the fruit of your service to the Lord. Your prayers. Your giving. Your working.  I wish you could meet them, you would be inspired. I hope my telling a little of their stories encourages you.

Also, to tell you that these women represent the two 'maturity goals' Pacific Partners has always prayed to see in the people we serve.

Selflessly giving, and selflessly going.

In the Pacific Islands most giving is under church compulsion and without any understanding of biblical stewardship. Also, there is almost zero understanding of biblical discipleship, and therefore of biblical missions. We have always held these two things as 'maturity goals' to indicate that the work of Pacific Partners is indeed going deep, and is effective.

Praise God

He does much more with the little we're able to do

God's measure is always abundantly beyond what we could ask or think!

I hope it encourages you to know about A... and N...

Please pray for them.
