The paper is too small                                                 11 March 2011
Greetings!

A few days ago we held a weekend staff retreat and training camp for our radio hosts and Bible study leaders in Tonga. Friday morning through to Sunday evening at a beautiful camp site (own by FIFA, Soccer's international governing body) in the bush outside of Nuku'alofa.
We've often held individual training sessions,
this was the first camp we've hosted for our workers
- it was a great success!
In This TokTok

The weekend training course was called
Mo'ui ikuna he fehangahangai mo e ngaahi pole o'e mo'ui
(Living Victoriously in the battles of life) developed by the Biblical Counseling Foundation of America(BCF)

[ visit BCF online ]

Most of our leadership and discipleship training is based on BCF material and we highly recommend their courses, which are all based entirely on the Bible.

Pacific Partners' radio hosts are trained to
interact with their listeners live on air

In the Islands religious traditions are strong and there is little Bible teaching or pastoral care. Our radio hosts encourage their listeners to ask questions, share their prayer needs, and tell their stories over the radio, as they seek to discover more about Jesus Christ.

Our hosts are not theologians.
But they have experienced the love and power
of Jesus Christ in their own lives -
and they want their listeners to experience the same!

When people call the station and speak on the air, our hosts always ask - "What does the Bible say about that? Only God's Word will help us, so let's be sure that what we are saying is from Him!" And other listeners begin to phone in with Bible verses and applications and more questions . . .
and so the seeking begins!

Deuteronomy 4:29 "But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul." As our hosts share their "spiritual journey" openly like this, more and more listeners are becoming hungry to know and follow Christ.

As someone once said
"We are like a beggar helping other beggars find bread!"

If you have donated to make this camp possible

Thank you very much

Our radio hosts are already sharing many of the practical things they learned from the Bible with their listeners. We are praying we can run the same retreat/training course later this year for our staff in the Solomon Islands.

We still need US$/AU$ 800(NZ$1100)

to pay for the the Tonga camp expenses

  • Please [ donate ] via Network for Good
Graham Carter This investment in the
training and encouragement of our staff
is helping them win and disciple their
own people for Jesus Christ.

Thank you for helping. God bless you.
