Tok Tok - News from the Islands
A big step forward in Guadalcanal                            3 November 2010
Greetings!

Something exciting is happening at our Pacific Partners radio station on Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands.
Judah, a young radio host at Gud Nius Redio (Pidgin for Good News Radio), has been leading a Bible study in his village of Kakabona, near Honiara. The group has grown to over 25 people and we have shipped Bibles to Honiara to help Judah disciple these (mainly) young people.
A very special welcome
to our new Partners who signed up during my recent USA trip, and at the Promise Keepers conference in Auckland NZ.

Judah is a Gud Nius Redio host
and he's been sharing about the group with his listeners
Talking about the things the people in Kakabona are discovering in the Bible; how their prayers are being answered; and what the Lord is doing in the lives of the members.

Recently the group decided to reach out to serve the needy widows in Kakabona village, and share the Gospel with them. (There is no government welfare in the South Pacific Islands and people often live in extreme hardship.)

This idea has caught the attention of Judah's radio listeners and the other Gud Nius Redio staff are also inviting their own listeners to help with gifts of donated food and clothing.

A big step forward
in Guadalcanal

Pacific Partners uses radio a little differently to what you might expect. Our strategy for discipling a nation is to let local people tell their stories over the radio, as they learn to walk with Jesus and demonstrate His love and power through faith and acts of compassion in their community. This stimulates a hunger for Christ in our radio listeners.
  • Our mission is . . .
(for our workers in the Islands)
to equip and encourage our people of the South Pacific to live the Christian life as Jesus Christ taught it; demonstrated it; and made it possible.
Judah and Gud Nius Redio are beginning to communicate the fruitful Christian life in the local context of the Solomons Islands. Bringing Jesus right into the ordinary lives of the local people. So they can see what the love of God through Jesus Christ looks like where they live!
Judah writes
"My cell meeting . . . which we held every Friday night

from 8:30pm to 10pm attracted a lot of young men, women and children from surrounding villages of Kakabona. The most active ones are the youths ranging from 7-20 years of age. Normally we started out a few praise and worship choruses, prayers then the sharing of the word of God.
This includes scripture searching, followed by interaction, asking and answering of questions. Our vision and mission is to train and develop ourselves with the word in praying and memorizing scriptures, and winning souls for the Kingdom of God."

This is our mission as Pacific Partners

  • Our mission is . . .
(as supporting Partners outside the Islands)

helping the people of the South Pacific
    disciple their islands by radio.

Please pray for Judah and his study group and outreach in Kakabona.

Please pray for wisdom as we seek to build on what Judah is doing as a fruitful discipleship ministry, similar to what we are experiencing in Tonga.
Please pray for the money needed for me to travel to the Solomon Islands (approx USD 2200.00; NZD 2800.00) to train Judah and Gud Nius staff for running successful listener Bible study groups as our staff are doing in Tonga.
