Malo 'aupito the toilet is fixed 06 April 2010 |
Greetings!
Last month Cyclone René caused a lot of damage in Tonga.
Letio Faka-Kalisiatane 93FM was able to keep broadcasting through the worst storm in 50 years (the only radio station to do so). But station building suffered a lot of damage. And the radio staff lost their toilet.
From this . . . >
Praise the Lord, when I emailed our Partners about the toilet, people responded immediately from Australia, New Zealand and America with donations to buy the materials needed to fix it. And some of our listeners in Tonga gave their time to get the job done.
More money came in than we had asked for. Then, once the work was started, we discovered the underground waste pipe and wiring also needed replacing. God knew we would need that extra money!
In the picture, you can see the new hand basin attached to the outside and open to the weather. This is common in the islands.
Malo 'aupito (thanks very much in Tongan language) for fixing the toilet.

The nex big challenge for the Tongan radio station
|
|
We are planning to finish off the half-built concrete building at the radio station, so we can move the
studios in before the next cyclone season starts in December. The new
building is designed to be a training and accommodation center, but it will be
ideal as temporary studios. Then we can demolish the present, old wooden studio building (if next year's cyclone doesn't do it
for us) and replace it with a new
radio studio. Malao 'aupito and may God bless youGraham A Carter [ email me ] President of UCB Pacific Partners
