Solomon Isl - Cyclone Ului may be biggest yet 15 March 2010 |
| Greetings! Satellite view of Cyclone Ului as it lies between Vanuatu (bottom) and the Solomon Islands (top) last Friday | The Solomon Islands need our prayer.
Cyclone Ului is today in the Coral Sea (between Australia and the Solomon Islands) and meteorologists believe it will cause major damage in the Solomon Islands.
Ului has grown into a category 5 cyclone and the experts say it may become the biggest ever recorded in the area. (Category 5 is the highest classification in the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. It means winds above 249 km/h or 155 mph).
We received an email from Gud Nius Redio in Honiara (Solomons capital) this morning saying the station is off the air. We've been unable to get through by phone since then to find out more. Please pray for the Solomon Islands.
- Pray for the storm to move away and to die out at sea
- Pray for the people to be safe
- and for our radio station to be quickly back on the air.
Fiji and Tonga also need our prayer Cyclone Tomas (smaller than Ului) is headed for Fiji's northern Islands and high winds are already affecting Tonga (which is still cleaning up after Cyclone Rene). You can track these storms and the latest news as we get it on our web siteI'll also keep you informed May God bless you for praying
