Do you know
what happened?

Christian radio Laif FM was hit
by lightning and went off the air

15 November 2007
Finally, after 3 months
waiting for parts to come from Australia
the Laif FM transmitter is going again

Greetings in Jesus' Name!

CarryEquipTony had to pay an extra 700 Kina to customs to get the parts released. Now the transmitter is operating again, in the workshop at the station.

TonyOnTowerTony needs to run more tests, then hire a four-wheel-drive to take the transmitter back up Mt. Passam. Then from the end of the vehicle track, he walks, carrying the equipment on up to the FM tower.

Tony is over the discouragement he was feeling. Thanks again for your prayers and emails.
And of course, he is very excited to be
getting his radio station back on-air again.

(By the way, Tony now has spare equipment to help him get back on air quickly, when lightning strikes in the future.)

Tony is a young leader
in a lonely place and doing a difficult job

And that got me thinking . . .

SlmYthOnAirI'm going to Honiara (Solomon Islands) in a few days. To visit Gud Nius Redio for a board meeting and a training retreat with our local radio leaders. (We'll also plan the new radio station at Gizo read more)

Why not take Tony to Honiara with me?
He needs leadership training (and I'll be doing that with the Gud Nius Redio leaders).
And he also needs fellowship with other Melanesian people who are leading similar radio and discipleship ministries, in similar cultures.
Both he and our Gud Nius people will benefit from sharing their local programming and ministry ideas.

(The Solomon Islands are close to PNG. Travel between them is not cheap, but it costs a lot less than bringing Tony to New Zealand for training.)

So I'm planning to fly Tony to Honiara where he'll stay with me for the week I'm there, and then stay on until Christmas with the team at Gud Nius Redio.
Training a national leader is a
major investment in the Gospel
Will you please pray
about getting Tony to Honiara for training?
Tony
This is an opportunity
to advance the Gospel
for
the people of Wewak, PNG

by investing in the training
of a national leader

Tony's local expenses will be taken care of in Honiara, but his air ticket will cost 2430.00 Kina (USD 875.00, Euro 595.00, NZD 1140.00, AUD 970.00)

The LORD is King! Let the earth rejoice!
Let the farthest islands be glad.
(Psalm 97:1)

For I have a great sense of obligation . . .
to people in other cultures, to the educated and uneducated alike. . .
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ.
It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes . . .
