Grant, O merciful God, that your Church, being gathered together in unity by your Holy Spirit, may show forth your power among all peoples, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Keeping up with Canon Liz:

| | VISION | | |
All Episcopalians in Hawai`i shall work together to create a Church filled with visible and spirit-driven Christians - Christians who are eager to share our Episcopal tradition and faith, and traditional Hawaiian spiritual values, with those who have not yet found a spiritual anchor in their lives.
GOALS
1) Convert our Hearts to Accept Jesus' Gospel Message and to Live in a Deep Relationship with God. 2) Transform the Episcopal Church in Hawai`i and Congregations to Vital and Vibrant Faith Communities. 3) Evangelize to Share God's Love in Our Communities. 4) Reduce the structure and administration costs of the Diocese so that its operations, including its bodies, are directed to supporting transformation and growth.
The Five Marks of Mission of the Worldwide Anglican Communion:
1) To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
2) To teach, baptize and nurture new believers
3) To respond to human need by loving service
4) To seek to transform unjust structures of society
5) To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.

The following contains excerpts from an article that appeared in the Anglican Communion News Service website on August 14, 2011, by Lloyd Ashton, Anglican Taonga
Former Primate, Archbishop of New Zealand and Governor General dies
Bishop Sir Paul Reeves died in Auckland this morning. He was 78. The Reeves whanau [extended family] wish to acknowledge the support they have received since Sir Paul announced he was stepping back from public life following his recent diagnosis of cancer. The whanau acknowledge and are aware of the immense grief and loss felt by Maori, the Church and the wider community, and there will be time and opportunity for people to pay their respects in the days to come.
Born in Wellington, Sir Paul has Te Atiawa whakapapa. He began his ministry as a deacon in Tokoroa and later spent five years in England. He was appointed Bishop of Waiapu in 1971. In 1979 he became Bishop of Auckland, and then Primate and Archbishop of New Zealand the following year. In 1985, Sir Paul was appointed Governor General. He was the first Maori to hold that position. After completing his term as Governor General, Sir Paul became the Anglican Observer at the United Nations, where he served from 1991 to 1993. He observed elections in Ghana and South Africa on behalf of the Commonwealth and assisted with the constitutional reform process in Guyana, in Central America.
A note from Bishop Robert L. Fitzpatrick
Haere ra, Bishop Reeves
The Archbishop was well known in our Diocese. I hope Bishop Reeves will be remembered in Prayers of the People, in all churches of the Diocese.
Aloha ma o Iesu Kristo, ko makou Haku.
+Bob

Applications for Episcopal Church educational scholarships
Deadline is October 15
Applications are now being accepted for more than 60 scholarships available through the Episcopal Church. Earmarked for education and schooling for Episcopalians, the scholarship money is derived from numerous trust funds that have amassed over the years.
In most cases, the scholarships are geared to particular audiences and students, explained Antoinette (Toni) Daniels, Co-director of Mission and Chair of the Scholarship Committee. "Trusts are given for particular areas of interest," she said. "Some of the scholarships are very specific. In all cases, the financial support is meant for Episcopalians."
Among the specific communities are: American Indians/Native Americans, African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Latino/Hispanics, children of missionaries, medical missionaries, men in the ordination process, Pacific Island Americans, children of living or deceased bishops and clergy, Chinese girls, and others.
The list of scholarships, the guidelines, the application form and other links pertaining to the scholarship process can be found at: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/youngAdult/109462_110675_ENG_ HTM.htm

Online Bible study features 'Seminarian of the Week'
Seminarians from across the country have been taking turns leading The Episcopal Church's online weekly Bible study discussion. Based on the upcoming Sunday lectionary reading, the online weekly Bible study is available by going to www.episcopalchurch.org/biblestudy. Participation is invited and welcomed in the online discussion, which is conducted in both English and Spanish.
The innovative project kicked off in June, with Stephen P. Hagerty as the first Seminarian of the week. Hagerty has encouraged students to participate in this program and "to engage in the Bible in any way that works!" He observed, "The online weekly Bible study is just such an outlet. You can choose to engage privately or to reach out to others across the country who wrestle, wonder or wail at some part of the Bible that confronts them each day or each week."
You can also choose to participate through Facebook and Twitter. To read more about online Bible Study and links to Twitter and Facebook, visit the following site: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/newsline_129112_ENG_HTM.htm
