| Prayer for the Diocese
|
| O God, by your grace you have called us in this Diocese to a goodly fellowship of faith. Bless our Bishop Robert and other clergy, and all our people. Grant that your Word may be truly preached and truly heard, your Sacraments faithfully administered and faithfully received. By your Spirit, fashion our lives according to the example of your Son, and grant that we may show the power of your love to all among whom we live; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. - Book of Common Prayer, p.817.

Vision: All Episcopalians in Hawai`i shall work together to create a Church filled with visible and spirit-driven Christians - Christians who are eager to share our Episcopal tradition and faith, and traditional Hawaiian spiritual values, with those who have not yet found a spiritual anchor in their lives.
Goals:
1) Convert our Hearts to Accept Jesus' Gospel Message and to Live in a Deep Relationship with God. 2) Transform the Episcopal Church in Hawai`i and Congregations to Vital and Vibrant Faith Communities. 3) Evangelize to Share God's Love in Our Communities. 4) Reduce the structure and administration costs of the Diocese so that its operations, including its bodies, are directed to supporting transformation and growth.
The Five Marks of Mission of the Worldwide Anglican Communion: 1) To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom 2) To teach, baptize and nurture new believers 3) To respond to human need by loving service 4) To seek to transform unjust structures of society 5) To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth

Grants available for pastoral internships The Fund for Theological Education, through its Calling Congregations initiative, seeks to build an ecumenical community of congregations and church-related organizations committed to the cause of cultivating future pastoral leaders.
To support them, Calling Congregations developed VocationCARE, as a means by which everyone - particularly young people exploring Christian vocation and the call to pastoral ministry - are more likely to hear, respond to, and serve God's call in their lives.
Pastoral internship grants seek to fund congregational projects for college-age interns in support of the exploration and discernment of a call to pastoral ministry. Proposed internship projects will engage elements of the VocationCARE practices. And grant recipients will advance the fourth practice, "establishing ministry opportunities," through their internship proposed program. FTE awards 3-5 pastoral internships grants up to $12,500, depending on the quality of the grant proposal. For more info...__________________________________________________________ |

Deadline for scholarships nears The October 15 deadline nears for applications for the Fall awarding of more than 60 scholarships from The Episcopal Church. Specific scholarships are available for ethnic communities along with other particular wide-ranging eligibility for education and training. "Besides ethnic ministries, there are scholarships available to children of missionaries, foreign students studying for ministry in the Church, foreign students training in the fields of medical, sanitation, nursing or hospital work in their own country and for the children of bishops and clergy of The Episcopal Church," explained Antoinette (Toni) Daniels, Co-director of Mission and Chair of the Scholarship Committee. Daniels reported that, in the spring 2010 cycle, a scholarship was awarded to the first Hmong seminarian in The Episcopal Church. Compared with last year, both the Latino/Hispanic Ministries and Native American Ministries saw the number of applicants double and Asian-American Ministries accepted three more applicants. "The scholarships are addressing educational funding needs in this down economy," Daniels added. The list of trust funds and scholarships is here. All materials including the application form and the instructions for filing are available online here. __________________________________________________________
