| Prayer for a Church Convention
|
|
Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel at the 41st Annual Meeting of the Diocesan Convention in Honolulu for the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. - from Book of Common Prayer, p. 818.

| Vision for Our Diocese |
|
|
Vision: All Episcopalians in Hawai`i shall work together to create a Church filled with visible and spirit-driven Christians - Christians who are eager to share our Episcopal tradition and faith, and traditional Hawaiian spiritual values, with those who have not yet found a spiritual anchor in their lives.
Goals:
1) Convert our Hearts to Accept Jesus' Gospel Message and to Live in a Deep Relationship with God. 2) Transform the Episcopal Church in Hawai`i and Congregations to Vital and Vibrant Faith Communities. 3) Evangelize to Share God's Love in Our Communities. 4) Reduce the structure and administration costs of the Diocese so that its operations, including its bodies, are directed to supporting transformation and growth.
The Five Marks of Mission of the Worldwide Anglican Communion: 1) To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom 2) To teach, baptize and nurture new believers 3) To respond to human need by loving service 4) To seek to transform unjust structures of society 5) To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth

Across the church we witness young adult and campus ministers striving to offer a vision of stewardship that is holistic, comprehensive, even life changing to the young adults they work with.

Short-term housing needed for priest & wife
The Office of the Bishop received the following request from the Rev. Padi [Patrick] Chrisp. Can anyone help? Phone number and link to email are below.
"My wife and I are on our way back to the Philippines for two years service [including serving as a non-stipendary parish priest in the Central Philippines Diocese, as well as work reaching out to the Muslim communities again]. We 'have' to go through Hawaii to renew my U.S. Military I.D. and expect to arrive in Hawaii on a military hop flight on the 8th of November.
"We would dearly love to house sit or stay in economical accommodation whilst there for about a week to ten days. We really need the break!
"Can any of your readers help us or recommend somewhere we can stay? Using the net to search has only heightened our uncertainity about the quality of ordinary 2-3 star `hotels', despite examining carefully the reviews.
"We would be most grateful if anyone can help us in any way and/or of course we would be available to share about Muslim work in the Philippines and the activities of the Central Diocese including the wee parish the Bishop has asked me to serve in.
In anticipation, many thanks Maraming Salamat po Kia ora e te whanau e te kariti
Rev [Padi] Patrick Chrisp, phone: 0064 3329 3228 Diamond Harbour Diocese of Christchurch. New Zealand.

The theme of the Summer Collegium this year is Leadership in the Small Congregation. Our keynote speaker will be Alice Mann, a prolific writer on congregational ministry, and John Bell from the Iona Community in Scotland will join our worship team for the conference.
The dates for the Summer Collegium are June 23 - July 1, 2010. Application forms may be found at the Summer Collegium web site, or will be sent in the mail by emailing the Collegium or by calling 703-461-1760. Applications must be postmarked by December 15, 2009, to be considered.
