L'Auberge Del Mar Renovation On-Schedule
L'Auberge Del Mar New RoomReopening in June

The doors of L'Auberge Del Mar will reopen this June after a comprehensive seven month, $25 million renovation.
The boutique hotel's grand opening celebration is scheduled for January 2009, after the completion of its expansive new spa that includes 10 elegant treatment rooms, multiple indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, aromatic steam rooms, men's and women's locker and rejuvenation areas, and a complimentary wine bar.  Michael Slosser, vice president and managing director, describes the new L'Auberge as a "sophisticated beach home." Francine Williams, the hotel's director of sales and marketing, says with the rebirth of L'Auberge Del Mar, guests and residents can expect a fresh and elegant look. "The renovation includes a complete refurbishment of the resort. Guests can expect a balance of comfort and elegance rarely seen in a hotel. Beautiful custom designed accent pieces and a myriad of new foliage complete the look." Williams added.

Come enjoy a drink and sunset on the ocean view terrace. Relax by the new outdoor water and fire features, all available to the public. The restaurant is scheduled to open mid-September.

Valet Program
DMVA Extends Summer Valet Parking
Service starts June to September 1st

Knowing that parking is at a premium in Downtown Del Mar, the DMVA has extended its' summer valet parking program with the program now starting in June. This year the popular service is offered from 5:30pm-11pm for $7. The summer valet parking program is completely sponsored by the DMVA with the support of local restaurants and retailers through the DMVA hosted Summer Solstice Event.
Cafe Secret 2
Café Secret to Serve Breakfast and Lunch Starting in Early Summer
Secret Garden Inn to Open in June

The charming European inspired café will be reopening its doors by early summer, offering, once again, its tasty breakfast and lunch items. In addition, connected to the back of Café Secret, is the new Secret Garden Inn, a four-room bed and breakfast and courtyard scheduled to open in June.

The café, located in the heart of the Village at 1140 Camino Del Mar, underwent renovation while the bed and breakfast, adjacent to the café, was being constructed. While the reopened Café Secret will have a similar atmosphere as in the past, it now is equipped with new appliances as well as a new chef. Rachel Going will bring her gourmet cooking talents to the Café which will continue to serve its popular vegetable frittata, mushroom quiche, gourmet coffees, and pastries.

"We're currently working on a menu that will allow us to be creative and expand our menu items. We've always had a Eurasian twist to the dishes we've prepared and Rachel brings her own style to add to the mix. It should be fun," added co-owner John Halper.

Café Secret will continue to offer its sidewalk seating and will also include seating in the adjacent bed and breakfast courtyard.

In addition to Café Secret and the adjoining Secret Garden Inn, Sulana Sae-Onge and John also own Les Artistes Inn, located just 2 blocks south of the café at 944 Camino Del Mar.

Del Mar Visitor Center Back For Summer
Volunteers Needed

Just in time for the peak tourist season, the DMVA is bringing back the Del Mar Visitors' Center. It will be open every weekend from Saturday, June 28th through Labor Day from 11am to 3pm, offering visitors and residents information on Del Mar.  The center, housed under a green pop-up canopy, will be located at Powerhouse Park and stocked full of information including restaurant menus, maps, coupons, as well as brochures and flyers listing Del Mar shopping and services.

The DMVA is recruiting volunteers who would be available to answer questions as well as provide information to those who pass by. This is a great way to spend a day at the beach! "It is our hope that the visitors who come by the center are treated with warm hospitality and information on Del Mar. It's a personable way of showcasing the wonderful things we have to offer," said Andrea Hirashiki, DMVA Board Member and Special Events Coordinator for Pacifica Del Mar. "It's important for visitors and our residents to see people who love where they live and are proud of their community," Hirashiki added. To volunteer or for more information please contact the DMVA.

The DMVA has received a donation of office space courtesy of George Conkwright, owner of 1201 Camino Del Mar. The new DMVA space is approximately 420 square feet and includes an office and conference room. "The DMVA is very appreciative of this office space donation as well as George Conkwright's continued support of the Main Street Program," said DMVA executive director Jen Grove. "This office space will be a huge help in facilitating meetings and developing our programs for 2008/2009." The non-profit organization also received donated office furniture from Sissy Alsabrook, Sharon Hilliard, and Mary Lou and Rich Amen.
DMVA Banner Campaign
white wine
Whether driving, biking or walking through the village along Camino Del Mar one can't help but notice the colorful banners highlighting upcoming Del Mar events. The 2008-2009 banner campaign, with new additions, continues last year's newly launched effort of celebrating and informing the public that "there is always something going on in Del Mar!"

The banners created by the DMVA in partnership with Hula Girl Design spotlight the DMVA's signature events, Summer Solstice, Art Stoll & Taste of Del Mar and Holiday Wonderland, as well as events sponsored by: Keep Del Mar Clean, Friends of the San Dieguito River Valley, The Del Mar Farmers' Market, Del Mar Fairgrounds, Del Mar Lifeguard Association and the Del Mar Race Track.
