If we look for them, we can always find excuses for not pursuing our dreams, such as not having the time, money, or education needed, and the list goes on. However, as Linda Alvarado, Founder of Alvarado Construction Company, was taught by her mother, "Don't find excuses why you cannot succeed, instead find reasons why you can."
That lesson has served Alvarado well. She found reasons to pursue her interest in starting a company in the male-dominated construction field. Despite doubts and major discouraging behaviors towards her by men, she persisted. Today her firm, Alvarado Construction, employs hundreds of workers and has completed over sixty multi-million dollar construction projects in the commercial, institutional, government, and recreational fields.
For her tremendous success and for breaking the glass ceiling in the construction industry, Linda Alvarado was recognized as The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business Woman of the Year and The Revlon Business Woman of the Year. She also received The National Society of Hispanic MBAs' Brillante Award and many other accolades.
