Greetings!
Holy Cow! It just dawned on me that in a couple days I will be headed off to The Big E and I haven't even given a thought to packing or getting my family ready to fend for themselves for a big chunk of time this month. I just got off the phone with Judi and she has even more to prepare than I can even comprehend and she leaves tomorrow to finish the load in and to get the booth ready for action. We hope to see you there! ~Kel

This year the Keene Pumpkin Festival has joined NHGSA as an official event member. With this new participation level, GSAs now can have the option of some other fun duties including:
Information Provider: distribute statewide information, NH Division of Travel and Tourism, Keene Chamber, local Monadnock Region information.
Greeter: Pass out Pumpkin Festival Brochures
Ticket Seller: to the Ferris Wheel and Haunted Alley ($5 adults/$3 kids)
Assist in directing pumpkin bringing folks to the correct line so they can be counted for the Guinness Book of World Records & collect donations. Judi will be there as an onsite manager and can't wait to see you at this really fun event! Visit the volunteer site for more info.
You are invited to join us for the fun at the Big E!

Day in the Life of a GSA Blog
By Lisa Jackson, GSA St. Mary's Bank & America's Credit Union Class 2008
Rainy Days & Tuesdays Always Bring Me Back to MHT
I was at the airport for my 2nd rainy Tuesday in a row. I hope I haven't started a trend! I thought it would be busy with the end of the holiday and all, but it was quite empty. The parking lot was pick-a-spot-any-spot instead of seek-out-and-squeeze-in. My big observation of the day was shaped luggage - a hockey stick, a dark orange guitar case, and a pair of tennis rackets. No pets that day. I spoke to over a dozen folks on each side. A couple businessmen took advantage of the Club. Most just said 'thank you' but didn't have all that much time before their flight, so stayed where they were.
I realized I need to carry the GSA business cards with me, I met a couple whose flight was delayed, and chatted with them about GSAs in general. The wife seemed quite interested in what we do, and I could have easily passed her a card so she could check GSAs out when she returned home. They were just going away for a family visit. I hadn't thought of that angle before - getting new recruits!

Manchester Information Center: Transitioning to Fall
By Charlene Courtemanche,
Downtown Visitor/Information Center Manager
Seabrook Greyhound Class 2002
Summer of Success! It has been a tremendous summer at the Manchester Visitor/Information Center. The outstanding volunteer hours have increased visitor "tics" for the Center with a grand total of July and August of over 1,600 guests to the Center. The Center has been open over 90% of the time and as late at 7:00 PM on days with festivals and concerts. It is hard to believe that MIC has been open ten years. With that in mind, it obviously needs "refreshing"! One of the interns at the Chamber, organized both the information on the counter and display cases. This makes it easier to request brochures that are low or needed. Also, ProCon has offered to repaint the center and a timeline for this work should come soon. New chairs will be purchased and we have a new Keurig coffee maker for the volunteers.
