Greetings!

Not my bear, but you get the idea...
So far so good. Judi's away on a much needed vacation
(understatement of the year)
and I haven't broken anything yet! I planned to take it easy this week myself, but it hasn't worked out that way. My 'to-do' list seems to have a mind of it's own.

Many of you commented on my recent bear visit. It's still here (or at last he/she was a few days ago) only now he's taken to having tantrums since I've cut off his food source & supply of yummy smelling sun tan lotion :). My composter was flipped over, tethers broken; my trashcans are flat and one was even thrown into the woods. Didn't see anything squished the last couple nights so here's hoping he's moved on. Hold on bear-dude, my raspberries are coming!!

Waterville Valley Region Chamber of Commerce Welcomes New Director -- Another GSA!

The Waterville Valley Region Chamber of Commerce Welcome and Information Center at Exit 28 in Campton is actively looking for volunteers. This is a busy center with a steady traffic flow. The new Executive Director, Tamara Cocchiarella (and recent graduate of the Historical Society of Cheshire County Class of 2012) is working on some great perk programs (including the Waterville Valley Adventure Pass) and invites you to visit. Volunteer shifts are available daily 9am-noon and noon-3pm. There are staff on site to mentor you. Visit the online communication's system (aka online calendars) to sign up.

Dick and Anne Hatin recently volunteered at MHT during an Honor Flight. Senator Ayotte was at the airport to help send off the Honor Flight and took a moment to stop and say hello to our GSAs and thank them for volunteering.

Discover Wild NH Class of 2008

On the recent FAM tour of the Lakes Region, we visited many wonderful attractions, but one in particular really surprised me. That one is the , located in Wolfeboro.  What I expected was a museum full of tanks and military hardware, but it turns out that I was only half right. There is, indeed, a magnificent collection of WWII vehicles, including a massive 42-ton Pershing tank, but I was surprised to find that a large amount of space in the museum is devoted to the home front. There are even vignettes depicting slices of life in the 1940s, such as a corner soda fountain.

Currier Museum Class of 2010

For anyone looking for a very special dining experience where all your expectations are surpassed, look no further than the Inn at Pleasant Lake. Located on the shores of Pleasant Lake in New London, NH, this restaurant is simply in a class by itself.

In June 2011, owners Brian and Linda McKenzie very graciously hosted 26 Granite State Ambassadors to a complimentary and elaborate five course meal, accompanied by both red and white wine. Our special evening started with a brief history of the inn, and the owner's roles in shaping its current appearance. Following that was a description of our forthcoming meal that left us practically drooling!
