Greetings!
I love Holiday Weekends... for both the respectful and the fun reasons. There is a certain energy here in the mountains with the kick off to our summer season. There is also loads of energy here at my house because it's my daughter's birthday Monday! Number 10...mid-life crisis here I come!
When I first started working with GSA my sweet girlie was just an infant and was toted along everywhere I went. One time at a Center Manager's meeting, I had arrived first and placed the baby carrier on the floor by my seat. She went un-noticed until the end of the meeting when she woke up cooing. Even I had forgotten she was there and it took us all a moment or two to figure out 'what that noise was.'
Have a great weekend! ~Kelly
The Discover Portsmouth Center
is in need of weekend volunteers!
Each year we have new exhibits and art shows that remain free to the public. We aim to orient visitors to the Seacoast region while promoting the diverse arts, cultural and historic elements of Portsmouth. We welcome the opportunity to work with the Granite State Ambassadors! We are currently seeking volunteers to assist our staff during the weekend. Saturday shifts are from 11-2pm or 2-5pm and are a great way to experience the Portsmouth community. If you are interested, please feel free to contact Laura Calhoun to arrange a tour of our facility and a sneak peek of the Isles of Shoals exhibits! .

Big E Sign-up's Opening - Please Read
The NH Information Booth at the Big E will be open for sign-ups on June 1st at 6:00am. Judi and I are still working on the official GSA Big E page.. we will post more information there as we receive it.
There are two links on the GSA Big E site -- one for GSAs and one for non-GSA 'Community Friends'. If you know of a non-GSA that volunteered last year, please note that I changed their password for this year. Have them contact me (960-0272 or kbryer@gmail.com) to receive their new one or use the 'Forgot Password' function to retrieve it. They will login to our GSA Online Communication's System (same as GSAs).
For new folks or those who did not volunteer last year, they will click the non-GSA registration link at www.nhgsa.com/bige. This step may be done prior to the June 1st opening. This will allow them to have their login/password available before hand.

For those GSAs who were friends of Judy Greer, who passed away March 23rd, her family has extended an invitation to join them for a Life Celebration on Saturday, June 23rd from 12-4pm at Ellacoya State Park. Please visit the volunteer website for more information. In Case you Missed it.... UPDATED TOUR SIGN UP POLICY - Please Read!
This update will be in effect for all tours AFTER the Lakes Region Tour. We've been going round and round trying to find the best solution to keep educational tour attendance fair for all GSAs while making sure our hosts receive the intended exposure that leads to GSA referrals at the state's welcome and information centers. All tours will have a specific "open" date and time for sign-ups. These dates will be announced as soon as we have the information available even if it begins with a 'Save the Date' notice. To maintain that tours are educational opportunities and not perks, tours are only open to ELIGIBILE GSAs. To be considered 'ELIGIBLE', you must have 50 volunteer service hours, 16 of those in the last 6 months - unless otherwise designated. Each tour will have hours requirements that will drop at the following intervals. These will happen automatically and may not coincide with a newsletter release so please mark your calendars accordingly. Exactly three weeks prior to any tour, at the same time as the scheduled 'start' time, all attendance requirements will drop by half. All seats obtained at this point will count towards your annual 4 limit. Exactly two weeks prior to any tour, at the same time as the scheduled 'start' time all attendance requirements will be dropped and any remaining seats are open to all active GSAs. All seats obtained in this two week period will not count towards your annual 4 limit. All tours will close one week prior to start date.**GSA Activities such as parties, Ambies Awards etc are NOT considered tours and are open to all GSAs with no restrictions. The Rock'n Rib Fest is still looking for active GSAs to volunteer. After your shift, take a stroll around the grounds and get your mitts on some seriously messy and yummy grub!
