Greetings!
What a difference a week makes! Spring is officially here (I hope). I have finally completed entering your hours through March 2012. Please review them and email me any adjustments that need to be made. These are the hours (give or take a few) we will be basing the AMBIE awards on so please take a peek within the next week so we can begin the process.
On that note, I was so busy volunteering and working last week, that I missed my opportunity to thank you for all your service during the official National Volunteer Week! I hope you will accept my apology and know that I, and the entire NHGSA team sincerely want you to know just how much you are appreciated! The impact you have on the state is so incredible that it has spurred an entire new series of trainings and speaking engagements for NHGSA. Everyone wants to know just how you do it! In fact, Judi, Nathan and I are headed to the New England Visitor Center Association Conference this week where we will be speaking on "Adding Value to Staffing Visitor Centers." THANK YOU!!
My AMBIE award totals report show that from April 2011 - March 2012, collectively (260 active volunteers), YOU have volunteered a total of 17,608 hours. This is a total value of $355,076 in service to the State of New Hampshire (according to "Independent Sector")!
See you at the

ROCK'N RIBFEST
This is going to be a fun time for all.... lots of hard work, but fun! I appreciate those who have already signed up...thank you!
Please be sure to note that this event is:
- Open to friends and family (including teens via our Future Leaders of NH program). You may have your friends/family sign up online though the special link.
- Remember that this is a 1:1 program...meaning 1 friend per 1 GSA. This will help ensure the integrity of our service for those who are not "trained" GSAs or NH Information Specialists.
- Be sure to read through the job descriptions... this isn't your TYPICAL special event. We will be staffing VERY VERY VERY crowded parking lots, greeting guests, and walking LONG LONG LONG ways to get to where we need to be.... if you have health or walking issues this might not be the volunteer position for you.
- We did make most of our shifts 2.5 hours to help. BUT getting in/out will be very time consuming.
- That being said... I hope that many of you who are industry professionals looking to get in some volunteer hours... this IS the event for you!
- For those of you who are unsure, we have set up an informational meeting on May 3rd from 6pm-7:30pm at the Crown Plaza in Nashua.
- The anticipated crowds are double what the usually expect due to the Merrimack Premium Outlets holding their GRAND OPENING at the same time, in generally the same location.
We have chosen to work for this event because it is run by the Rotary (Nashua Rotary West). The Rotary is altruistic in nature as is NHGSA". For more information about the Nashua Rotary West here is their website
We hope this event will be a major fundraiser for NHGSA. We like other non-profit organizations volunteering at the event will receive part of the proceeds.... so bring on that GSA Sunshine... the better the weather... the more people.... the more people....the more income!
In the meantime, if you have any questions please give me a shout!
Thank You
Judi
I wanted to share a couple great emails we recently received from your fellow GSAs. Love it!!
Judi,
Dick and I did airport duty yesterday and this morning for the first shift. What a surprise and honor it was to be at the airport this morning. Luckily you had allowed us to sign in early after driving a friend to the airport. We had a lot of visitors before six am as there was an honor flight leaving this morning for Washington with WWII veterans. I am sending you photos and videos I took with my iPad in separate emails because I don't know how to include them into this email. I will forward a few photos first and then the two videos. They had a police officer playing bagpipes with the anthems for the respective services. We were so moved by this ceremony and I wanted to share it with you and my fellow GSA's.

Hi Judi Hope you've had a good winter and spring, well, we've kind of missed spring and gone right to summer, but the sunny days are nice. I want to let you and all the Ambassadors know about something new to do in the Keene area. Steve Hooper, Sentinel Photographer, and I, quasi-local history buff are teaming up to do photo walking tours in the down town area. The focus (a little humor there) will be on the history of the buildings, and local people, architecture and the best way to take photos. The photographic techniques will be useful when ever and where ever people want to take their best shots. (a little more photo humor) The first one will happen Saturday May 26, 2012. For more information call 603-852-0709, that is my cell phone. Anything anybody can do to spread the word would be great. Thanks much Meg Kupiec |
