Greetings!
Event Opening Dates Postponed
Okay, so we developed a bit of a superwoman complex and thought we could have everything ready to open up the sign ups for The Big E and the Rock'n Ribfest next week.
Here is my best maniacal "ha, ha, ha..." -- imagine my head twitching a lot when you picture it in your head.
We want everything to be perfect (and not confusing) for you so we have to postpone the scheduled Monday event openings. The Rock'n Ribfest will plan to open Tuesday, April 24th at 8am. The Big E will be sometime in May -- we will keep you posted. YOU ASKED -- WE LISTENED! We've streamlined the website and there is lots more coming. The first phase is done and we will continue to make adjustments from your feedback. Please use it for a couple weeks then let us know what you think once you get used to it.
You will no longer find the BLUE SIGN UP BOX on the homepage.
Simply click on the photo link of what you would like to do and you will find all the information associated with that activity along with the SIGN UP box.
It is our hope that having to first go to the information page will help you not to miss critical information since we cannot post it within the online calendar/communications system.

Hours for all AMBIE awards are being entered now. I hope to have them completed within the next couple weeks. When they are done, I'll post a notice in this newsletter so everyone will have the opportunity to double check before we start finalizing the awards.
If you plan to attend, please visit www.nhgsa.com/ambies for all the details and then sign up on June 7th in the "Online Communications System."
All GSAs (no restrictions) are invited and encouraged to attend the celebration!
OPEN HOUSE AT FOREST SERVICE HEADQUARTERS
Last year marked the 100th anniversary of the Weeks Act, which helped create the White Mountain National Forest. To mark the occasion, the Forest Service will be holding an Open House next Wednesday, April 18th, at their headquarters just off Exit 27 in Campton. The Open House will serve as a kickoff and dedication for the Weeks Act Legacy Trail, which can be called WALT for short. The Weeks Act Legacy Trail (WALT) is a trail comprised of 40 sites along a 100-mile loop in the White Mountains region. The WALT was produced as part of the year-long celebration in 2011 and offers visitors an opportunity to take an actual or virtual history tour of sites that have significance to the Weeks Act and its legacy. At the open house, we'll offer an overview of the WALT as well as tours of the "green" National Forest facility. You are also invited to view three artworks created in partnership with the Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire as part of the Weeks Act celebration. For more information and to RSVP contact Colleen Mainville at cmainville@fs.fed.us or call 603.536.6243. |

A Day in the Life of a GSA Blog
Poetry Out LOUD
By: Nathan Pasquale (Intern), Student (PSU) Granite State Ambassador, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Class of 2012 For the past two years NHGSAs have had the privilege and honor to be a part of the country wide Poetry Out Loud contest. High School students from all across the state compete in local poetry reading contests to eventually reach the state finals. The GSAs acted as ushers to guide contestants and visitors through the venue, which happened to be the beautiful State Capital Building. As you walk through the halls you are surrounded by some of the great heroes who helped shape New Hampshire. How could you not be inspired!

Visiting "Arts Heaven": The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen Headquarters Andy Mack Jr. - GSALeague of NH Craftsmen Class 2012 Did you know that one of the top organizations for fine craft in the country can be found right here in New Hampshire? Formed in 1932 to help craftspeople make a living during the Depression, the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen is now widely recognized for its high standard of craft, the creativity of its members and the excellence of their work. An arts destination, the League headquarters is on Main Street in Concord, NH, right in the midst of an art "heaven" of sorts; sharing the same city block as the Capitol Center for the Arts and the independent Red River Theaters. Housed inside a beautiful, green-engineered building, called the "Smile" building, League visitors will find plenty to smile about inside and out. Impressive artwork is everywhere. A towering, totem-like moose figure made of interwoven sticks stands guard in front of the entrance.

Mangia ... Mangia ... Mangia
Submitted by Lorry Young, GSA Radisson Hotel Class of 2006 Mangia Italian Restaurant recently re-located from Londonderry Turnpike in Hooksett to 33A Elm St. in Manchester, NH. Angelo Bruno is the proprietor, and a native of Campana, Italy. Angelo uses many recipes that have been in his family for years. The menu is full of authentic homemade Italian cuisine. One of his delectable appetizers is Bruschetta, the toppings are made daily with fresh ingredients. Quite a selection of salads are offered, you can also create your own salad. Zuppa del Giorno, soup of the day, the minestrone is wonderful. Ciabatta Bread Panino (sandwiches served warm and toasted). If you choose to make your own Panino, that is O.K., too. I counted at least sixteen Entree's meals to choose from. My choice was Pollo Valdostana, chicken topped with Italian ham, asparagus, and mozzarella cheese baked in a demy glaze sauce. The Portions are huge, so you will be bringing a doggie bag home. A variety of desserts are offered as well.
