Greetings!

JOIN ME IN WELCOMING THE "GREATER MANCHESTER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CLASS OF 2012" TO GSA!

Watch for them at the centers this month volunteering for their 3 mentor shifts. At MHT, they may be signed up on Walk-About but will be joining you in the booth for their mentor shifts. This is a really fun group (even you Nathan) and will be great assets to NHGSA, our member centers and the state.

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CENTER!
RECREATION ENTHUSIAST? LOVE THE WMNF? VOLUNTEER AND HELP SPREAD THE WORD!

GSAs can now volunteer at the White Mountain National Forest Visitor Information Center in the big white building just of Exit 32 in N. Woodstock. Currently GSAs can sign up online on the GSA Online Communications System (aka online calendars) for the White Mountain Visitor Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12:30pm - 3:30pm year-round.  The center is staffed so you can sign up for any available shift as a mentor shift.

This information center has a full interpretive display that provides a history of the Forest and its evolution over time. The center was developed using the Smithsonian guidelines for accessibility, and has tactile, hands-on displays as well as an audio-described tour. Staff are available to provide information and suggestions on short hikes, campgrounds, and other activities and programs. Restrooms are also available.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to make sure you have the best mentor experience (there is a lot to learn), the forest service does ask that you sign up a week in advance so they can plan accordingly. Also, if you do have to cancel a shift, please cancel online AND contact the center manager.

Green Dash is a Convenient, Easy Way to Tour Manchester

Submitted by Jean McGiffin
Granite State Ambassador,
Radisson Hotel Class of 2006

Green and Dash....two words near and dear to the GSA's.....we love Green and we certainly Dash around the state assisting all our wonderful visitors....so today we had a wonderful tour of Manchester and we rode on the Manchester Transit Authority's Green Dash.....the Manchester circulator (hop on, hop off) bus. The Green Dash operates Monday through Friday, every 10 minutes from 7:00-9:00 A.M; 11:30-1:30 P.M. and 4:00-7:00 P.M. Other times it is every 20 mins.

What's not to like....it has a Hybrid engine so environmentally friendly....I did mention the word Green didn't I?...it is Free....and on a very user friendly schedule.....It follows a figure 8 pattern from Granite St. to Elm with a left on Spring St. and then a right on Commercial and back to Elm by West Brook and back to Spring to catch the other end of Commercial St. and back to Granite Street.....You can't miss it literally and figuratively....bright Green with Mr. Dash painted on the side and his character and the creative art on the side of the bus were both donated by two wonderful NH craftsmen!!! It is, of course, handicapped accessible and on a wintery day you can be "Dashing through the snow" to that old, familiar tune!

Our silent "hats" ice breaker
At 4:00 P.M. on March 6th, after a grueling test, me and 18 other Granite State Ambassador (GSA) Trainee's officially walked across the stage. We graduated with degrees in Customer Service with a special interest in NH Information. It was a pleasure to be a part of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Class of 2012.
Regional Speed Dating
The Training started early Monday morning, as I got into my car and prepared for the drive to Manchester I thought, how much more information could I possibly learn about GSAs and the great state of New Hampshire? This question was quickly answered in the first hour of the day, and by the end of the second, it was extremely clear.  I knew very little about the state. As a tourism student I related a lot to the way GSAs operate. A good GSA is optimistic; they are bright, friendly,
caring, and passionate about what they do.  They pride themselves on knowing a broad range of information about the state of NH.  The GSA training not only teaches you about the State of NH, it also teaches you how to find the information a visitor is looking for.
