Get to Know a GSA -- Jim Eddinger
I am a GSA, having been certified in the Class of the Common Man Spa in Plymouth NH in 2010. I primarily work the Manchester - Boston Regional Airport in the evenings as I live only few minutes from the airport. I have lived my entire life, so far, here in Manchester, NH. Prior to my retirement, I was in banking for forty- eight years here in Manchester. These banks do not exist today. (not sure if they closed after I left employment or I was the cause of the closings.) Besides my volunteering with the GSAs, I also provide my services with the hospice unit of the visiting nurse association. I am on the board of the granite state senior games as an event coordinator. This organization is in its 25th year and we provide sporting events for seniors (50+) every august in eighteen different sports. I am also a Pickleball enthusiast providing demos and teaching clinics for anyone who may want to try this sport. I serve with honor as a commissioner with the senior services department of the city of Manchester, NH. I have been married for forty - three years with two children and one grandson. Day in the Life of a Granite State Ambassador
Manchester Offers Sweets, Green Dash and a Whole Lot More
In the flurry before Valentine's Day, the Granite State Ambassadors were lucky enough to embark on what we called a Chocolate Lovers Tour of Manchester, NH. We had no idea of all that was in store for us! We started at the hub of the Queen City, the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, which also doubles as the Visitor Information Center. The Center Manager, Charlene Courtemanche welcomed us and facilitated a round table discussion about the Manchester area, including transportation details, the information centers, and anything else that the GSAs were interested in learning about! A delicious lunch of sandwiches, salad and irresistable potato chips was catered by Divots on the River, which is located at Intervale Country Club in Manchester, NH. The Manchester Transit Authority's Green Dash, which is a free downtown circulator, picked us up from the Chamber's offices and delivered us to the Manchester Information Center, which is located on the corner for Merrimack Street and Elm Street. This center has been open for 11 years and is only open due to GSA volunteers. When volunteers are scheduled, the center is open for business! Charlene explained that this center keeps a varied guest book which contains local visitors, families of conference attendees, as well as people from all around the world, and many of them come to trace their heritage to Manchester! There are hopes to refurbish this center in the near future so stay tuned for details on those developments.

Day in the Life of a Granite State Ambassador
By: Nathan Pasquale, Intern and Student (PSU) This weekend I had the pleasure of being part of the 28th New Hampshire Farm and Forest Expo. This expo, held at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester, offers something for everyone, even if you are like me and are totally unfamiliar with farming. An an intern for the NHGSA, the expo started on Thursday, when the exhibitors came to set up and check in. A few of the GSAs and I helped to find their booths, and answer any questions they may have had. Later that day the GSAs who were volunteering for the event sat down with Expo Manager, Tori Berube, to go over some of this years changes and discuss the different jobs the GSAs would have during the event.
