Greetings!

Happy New Year to you all! It's a great year to be a GSA!

It's time again for the
Farm & Forest Expo!
First of all, a hearty and very sincere thank you to those of you who made a year-end donation to NHGSA. Your support means a lot and helps us to keep bringing our GSA volunteers more educational opportunities including trainings; tours and events. We are committed to ensure that our GSA volunteers have an intimate knowledge of New Hampshire to assist guests like no one else can.

Speaking of developing that intimate knowledge, there are a handful of seats left for the McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center tour this month and 50 seats for our new tour/event - "Oklahoma performance" hosted by the Anselmian Abbey Players. This March 22nd event is open to all current, active GSA that have at least 50 center/event volunteer hours. Thank you Ami for putting these fabulous tours/events together!

I would also like to welcome Nathan, our new intern. Nathan is a Senior at Plymouth State University and is currently enrolled in the Tourism Management and Policy degree program.  Hi Nathan!

~Kelly

FARM AND FOREST EXPO - February 2-4, 2012

It's time again for the Farm and Forest Expo. NHGSA has been contracted once again to organize the volunteer staff positions.

There are shifts on February 2nd to register the exhibitors and February 3rd-4th for the expo and silent auction. If you would like to volunteer for the actual silent auction on the 4th, you must also have volunteered for one of the set-up shifts on the 3rd and/or 4th.

These shifts do require a fair amount of standing/movement so please take your physical ability into consideration when signing up as many of the shifts are longer than a center shift.

We don't have an orientation date set as of yet, so please watch the newsletter and your email for that announcement.

St. Mary's Bank - American Credit Union Museum Class of 2008

Finally I got to break away and use my Indian Head Resort perk from 2010. They were great when I called to make a reservation for nights of November 17 and 18. Rose S (another GSA) joined me for the excursion.

NHGSA Rose in Lincoln Woods
NHGSA Rose in Lincoln Woods
We left Concord in the morning on Thursday with a stop at the Tanger Outlets in Tilton. Since I like to give back to those who give to us we lunched at 104 Diner (Common Man property). During a stop at the White Mt Visit Center we realized White Mt Mikey was among the missing.

Cruised Main Street for a bit and checked in at the Resort. We wanted to try the outdoor pool and jacuzzi, yet, did not want them to open for just us, so we opted for the indoor pool and hot tub. Cleaned up for dinner, I had the prime rib and we took desserts of cheesecake with strawberries back to our room for later. After that big dinner we walked around the property.

Downtown Manchester's only dessert café is proud to offer NHGSA's members a discount of 10% off their total bill. We are open Thursdays 2:30-10 pm, Fridays 2:30 -11pm, and Saturdays 4-11 pm. Ask for either owner, Kristi or Heather-we'd love to meet you! We are the perfect place to gather with friends, family or a date with your significant other. Desserts include classics such as: crème brulee, our signature tiramisu cake, or our own innovative desserts, like tableside s'mores, or chocolate fondue. We hope to see you soon!
