Zentangle Pen Sets
It is our great pleasure to announce our first collaborative Zentangle branded products. Over time, our close association with the people at Sakura of America has grown into a formal relationship between our two companies. Zentangle is essentially a family business and Sakura of America feels like a family business, too. Our two families have become personal friends and are now business partners. We enjoy a mutual trust and respect that, in our opinion, is the foundation of all successful relationships. You can read Sakura's press release here. We are introducing three versions of Zentangle branded "Pen Sets." These will be available for sale in retail outlets. So if you have a store, you can order them either through Zentangle or your rep that sells Sakura products. If your store doesn't have them, please ask them to carry them!

Just a Few CZT Stories
Sandra Westcott, CZT, writes from Alaska:
Greetings Rick, Maria, Molly, Sue and Nancy,
Thank you for all the great work you have done this year. Thinking about the amount of effort required to support us CZTs, stay in touch electronically, and develop new products is truly mind boggling. Well done. Here's a little update on my end: I was invited to present Zentangle at three events this fall: an In-service for high school counselors, a session at the Alaska State Math & Science Conference, and at our local watercolor society meeting. The response was enthusiastic and resulted in an invitation to present at the Alpha Delta Kappa convention in Fairbanks this spring and larger attendance at my workshops the following month.(Yeah!) I'm also going to start showing my work. In August I'm scheduled to exhibit my Zentangle-inspired work at a local gallery in the nearby village of North Pole. I've entered a few pieces at group shows but this one will feature my tangled work along with the work of a watercolor artist who does large closeups of flowers (a la Georgia O'Keefe). It's been a very exciting year of Zentangle experiences. Thank you for the journey! Meanwhile, we at latitude 65 are enjoying the slowly increasing daylight. This photo was taken from my house around noon on solstice: All the best to you in 2012, Sandra Westcott Still Winter Studio -----+-----
Excerpt:
"Pray and let God worry." That's Cindy Fahs' philosophy. The only problem was she couldn't quiet her mind to pray. "The next thing I knew I was thinking, 'The boys have baseball practice.' It got all jumbled." Fahs, 42, of York, solved her problem with Zentangle, the art of drawing to improve concentration.

Zentangle workshops are held very successful in my craft store.
I hold Zentangle 101 regularly each month and hold advanced workshops by request. So far I have conducted Zentangle 201 (Black Tile) and Zentangle 301 (cards & tag).
People enjoy Zentangle very much!
Thank you!
Wish you a wonderful holiday and a happy New Year! All the best, Laura Liu CZT Taipei, Taiwan

This year I make my first Zentangle in a workshop from Jella Verelst . . . a new life for me. I will thank you for sharing this beautiful form of meditation, peace and art with the world.
I also wish you a wonderfull new year, filled with love , friendship and zentangel-pleasure.

Sensei Pens
We have been spending a lot of time researching and developing ways to make Zentangle more accessible for younger children. Finding a pen better suited to the needs of a small child was top on our list. We have found our favorite to be the Sakura Sensei™ 04. This pen has the same wonderful, pigma based, archival ink as the Micron series. However, it has a different barrel and, most importantly, a tough plastic nib.
Although it does not have the same precision as the Micron, it really is a lovely pen and great for kids and those that may be heavy handed.
Some additional features/benefits
- These pens are a good alternative for someone who may have a disability that impacts their fine motor skills.
- Another fun aspect of this pen is you can press HARD. When you alternate between a light and heavy touch you can create some interesting effects particularly on the cushiony paper we use for our Zentangle tiles.
- Since the Sensei uses the same Pigma ink as the microns, you can interchange pens and get the same "color."
Sensei Pen $2.49
