Feng Shui Holiday Tips
Enhance your home's Feng Shui for the season
According to Feng Shui, the entrance to your
home is of great importance. At this time
of year, when we receive friends and family
into our homes to share Holiday celebrations, it is
especially important to pay extra attention to our
entrances. Ideally, your front entrance
is "entrancing," symbolizing your desire to
welcome guests. Roll out the welcome mat and make
your entrance fabulous. In doing so, you'll attract an
abundance of nourishing "Ch'i" (energy) in to your
home.
- Always keep the front path in good repair, well-lit
and clear of overgrown plants, toys and potential
hazards
- Illuminate your beautiful entrance features and
windows at night; this assures comfort and safety,
and sends out warm, festive energy
- Keep the entire front entrance in good repair.
Paint or spruce up as soon as it shows signs of wear
and tear
- Inside the entrance, it is traditional Feng Shui
advice to hang the best painting or art in the house
here. This is to honor and bless everyone who enters
your home. Do whatever you can to present your
guests- and yourself- with a warm and inviting
first impression
- When space allows, set up a welcoming
arrangement that may include a painting and a table
appointed with seasonal decorative items, a vase of
fresh flowers, or a fountain
- When your entry is small, hang an attractive
mirror, or art that has depth to it, such as a
landscape, to open up the space
- Even in the most humble and confined entrances,
a
friendly sign or seasonal wreath carries welcoming
Ch'i and sends a message that you are open to
receiving blessings
- Keep the indoor path free of migrating
possessions such as toys, sports equipment,
recyclables and mail
The entrance to our home is a metaphor for our
relationship with the world. Do you feel that you are
open to receiving all the goodness the season holds
for you? Are you inner doors open to welcoming
happy, healthy relationships with yourself, your
family, neighbors, co-workers and friends? In Feng
Shui, the entrance holds all this symbolism and more.
Our
environment has the power to reflect our inner world
back to us... and vice versa, so claim your entrance
as a place of power in your home- and dress it for
the season- all at the same time.
