Greetings (Contact First Name),

We had a great Women's History Month hike at Vickery Creek last Saturday.  I know many thought the hike would not go on due to the weather forecast.  But, let me tell you...the weather was great for hiking.  We did not see a drop of rain!  The temperature was in the high 40's and low 50's, and, the sun even peeked out toward the end of the hike.

Despite all the rain the night before, the trail had only a few scattered muddy spots, but that was it.  You can bet that the water over the dam was in full force!  Look at the video and the photos below to see for yourself.

We continue to strive to keep you connected to the great American outdoors with healthy, fun activities, educational tidbits, all with friendly men and women whose camaraderie you can enjoy while making lasting friendships and/or business connections. Keep up with what's going on with us through this newsletter and our web sites.  Share them with your family, friends and colleagues; Hartfield's Hikers, OPALs, Lifestyle Management, LLC, Hartfield's Healthy Haven, Atlanta African American Adventurers and my Lifestyle Blog.  I am adding a new component called Cultural Connectors...still working on it.

Don't forget, in between newsletters you can always go to the Lifestyle Management calendar to find out where the upcoming hike will be and register.  Come on and get on this train...it is moving...don't get left behind.  Know that I appreciate your persistent support.

Hear from the hikers...
Vickery Creek Hike - March 2012
Vickery Creek Hike - March 2012
View this great video of the hike and hear form some of the hikers as they express their experience of this adventure, particularly the first-timers.  Let me also tell you that there was some significant networking that happened also.

And as you may know, we hiked Sweetwater Creek last month during Black History month and gave accolades to the black men and women who built the Manchester Mill and manufactured the bricks used. We tend to forget these men and women who may not have been in the forefront but nonetheless had great skills and fortitude. These two trails Sweetwater Creek and Vickery Creek, were selected because of their connection.  If you are interested in learning more, you can download the document to read at your leisure.

Vickery Creek Hikers
Vickery Creek Hike Photo Slide Show

A little history about Vickery Creek:  Vickery Creek formed on the property of a mixed-blood Cherokee woman named Vickery. She was forced to move west with the rest of the Cherokee Nation when Georgia removed them on a forced march known today as "Trail of Tears. The creek name, which settlers called "Big Creek," is her lasting legacy.

Celebrate all the women in your life, they are history makers, renown or not!
