Greetings (Contact First Name),

First, are you on track with your 2012 goals?

Once again, I urge you to keep your eyes on the prize... your goals!  My action steps toward accomplishment of my goals are really kicking in!  I am sooo amazed in His Grace upon me as I move forward to excel in 2012!

We had a great experience at the Sweetwater Creek Black History hike.  The park was actually closed that day.  Filming of an upcoming movie starring
Robert DeNiro and John Travolta, Killing Season was taking place.  The movie is scheduled to be released late this year.  Read more about the hike on my blog.

March is Women's History month and we will celebrate significant accomplishments of women in the past and women among us!  We will make the connection between our Sweetwater Creek Black history hike and this month's Women's history month at Vickery Creek. See below for more information on Vickery Creek.

FYI...things continue to move at lightning speed! I have my seat belt on, how about you?!  We continue to make positive things happen and you can keep up with us through this newsletter and the web sites.  Share them with your family, friends and colleagues; Hartfield's Hikers, OPALs, Lifestyle Management, LLC, Hartfield's Healthy Haven, Atlanta African American Adventurers and my Lifestyle Blog.  I am adding a new component called Cultural Connectors...more on that later.

Don't forget, in between newsletters you can always go to the Lifestyle Management calendar to find out where the upcoming hike will be and register.  Come on and get on this train...it is moving...don't get left behind.  Know that I appreciate your persistent support.

Join us this Sunday, February 26 for our FREE, (click here for details) 2nd Living Life to the Fullest!!! event.

Enjoy the newsletter...

Please be warned that there is Poison Ivy on this trail. On this beautiful nature trail, expect to see waterfalls, chipmunks and the possibility of a Heron.

This was one of the trails that Paulette and I  hiked to become certified Outings Leaders.  The trail is in the city of Roswell, in Fulton County. We will meet at the trail head, see directions below. Since it is a local hike, this should be somewhat of a short day for us.  Beginners/First-timers are welcomed. Take  I-285 to Roswell Rd. (Exit 25) Travel north on Roswell Rd. (GA 9 North) approx. 10 miles.  Turn right onto Mill St. (GA 120).  Turn right at the Stop Sign...proceed to far end of the parking lot.  Parking is FREE.  The trail head is located right off the parking lot.  We will see you there.

As always, wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots, and of course comfortable layered, clothing.  Bring a friendly smile, great attitude, open mind, water, and snacks. Please eat a healthy breakfast to help sustain your energy.

Also, as we continue to bring you memorable and enjoyable hiking experiences this year, we have finally had to start charging for our hikes to help us defray the expenses we incur.  Get Membership info here... Please join Hartfield's Hikers and let us know what we can do to better serve you as we move forward.  We appreciate you and want to continue to provide you with a safe, fun, memorable and enjoyable hiking experience.  RSVP for the hike here...

Hiking Tips

Hiking Boots
Get a good restful night's sleep.

Eat a hardy nutritious breakfast.

Stay hydrated! Drink lots of water. Don't worry about having to use the bathroom...it is not an issue...believe me!

Wear layered clothing made of light quick drying fabric.  Stay away from cotton...it holds moisture.

Wear sturdy comfortable shoes or hiking boots.  Never wear new boots or shoes on a hike...you will be sorry! Break them in first.

Pack healthy snacks and a light healthy lunch.

Slow down, rest if necessary, stop if tired. Don't push yourself. On our hikes we are as fast as the slowest person.

Follow the Leave No Trace Principles.  Whatever you take in you take out.  Our motto is we only take photographs and only leave with great memories that we cherish!
