Gold Branch Trail Photo Album

January 2011

Greetings!

We had an awesome January hike!  Everyone enjoyed themselves so much, they stayed around for almost an hour continuing conversations following the 2 1/2 hour hike.

To add to our pleasure, just as we ended the hike and were returning to the parking lot, we ran into National Park Ranger Nketia (Nikki).  She was a joy to speak with and shared with us some great information concerning other hike trails in the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area.

We had 6 men and 8 women including 6 first-timers.  James, a first-timer with us is a student at Morehouse majoring in Environmental Architecture.  We had some very interesting people and thus, interesting conversations that continued in the parking lot.  We look forward to working together and planning additional exciting and enlightening events!

As you know, our hikes are scheduled for the first Saturday of every month.  However, the January hike was on the 2nd Saturday, due  to the 100% chance of rain, and it did rain all day on the 1st.  The weather on our hike was perfect, sunny and brisk.  And, just as confirmation that we kicked off the year on the right foot...in addition to the great weather, fascinating hikers and missing the rain on the preceeding Saturday, we missed the 4 inches of snow the following day!
