A Note From Lou

Challenging Health Issue 

Well, dear friends, I received some rather startling news several weeks ago.  (That's why I haven't written in a while.)  As many of you know, my virus turned into pneumonia ... which had me spending a few days in the hospital.  While there, they discovered I have Stage IV Lung Cancer.

The doctors say that this is a very serious condition (treatable with chemo, but not operable). We are not going to give up or give in to it, and we'll do our best to overcome it despite the odds.   

At the moment we are looking forward to the Hohman reunion this summer scheduled here in Sarasota ... and seeing all the wonderful relatives that we have either not met or have known only briefly.  

I'm still looking forward to my 90th birthday party in August, and God willing, we will celebrate that with great gratitude and peace.   

I am well aware that stage IV lung cancer is considered terminal, but I will still be looking forward to the future with optimism and hope.  When God chooses to call me, I hope and pray (and count on your prayers to help me) to be ready.   

God has given me a full life and a happy one.  Living with people such as yourselves who are a joy and a real inspiration.  So, let's look forward to July and August and let the Lord take us where he may.  I will be guided by Linda's indomitable optimism to look beyond what seems apparent ... to a full and joyful future that overcomes the problems at hand.   

P.S.  I may not have much opportunity to send these ezines in the near future, as the chemo makes me very weak.  However, Linda will keep you informed ... if you like.

This type of positive energy will help a great deal.      

The spring equinox has recently arrived (March 21st).  It offers tremendous power for new beginnings ... thinking, praying or whatever your belief system is for manifesting your desires.  "Lou is in extraordinarily, perfectly good health".  

We'll tell you later all the things we are doing to beat this.  For now, know that we also need your help.  Your prayers, your positive intentions, your support.

When is a good time to call Lou to chat?

You can call anytime between 9 am and 9 pm eastern time.  Use the home phone number which is 941-351-4560. Talking with folks helps boost his spirit considerably. So don't be bashful.   

Can Lou have visitors?   

Sure! He loves them.  Plan anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour.  Call ahead to make sure that we will be home.  We may be at a doctor's visit or a play.  You never know!  When you are on chemo, they want you to be as active as you can.  

How about sending a note?

Absolutely!  Anything to boost his spirit.  Sometimes it gets hard to see progress.  The body heals slowly in these situations.  He loves hearing from his friends.

Is the 90th Party Still On?
