Evidence of Harm Has Been Linked to Various Vaccines Challenging Prevailing Public Recommendations

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic set out to determine whether the flu vaccine was effective in reducing the number of hospitalizations for all children, and especially the ones with asthma. The study involved 263 children who were evaluated from six months to 18 years of age, each of whom had had laboratory-confirmed influenza between 1996 to 2006. The investigators determined which children had and had not received the flu vaccine, their asthma status, and who did and did not require hospitalization. Records were reviewed for each subject with influenza-related illness, for flu vaccination preceding the illness, and hospitalization during that illness.

"They found that children who had received the flu vaccine had three times the risk of hospitalization, as compared to children who had not received the vaccine. In asthmatic children, there was a significantly higher risk of hospitalization in subjects who received the TIV, as compared to those who did not (p= 0.006)."

So, will these disturbing findings--namely, ineffectiveness of the TIV vaccine coupled with evidence of harm--lead the Center for Disease Control and the AmericanAcademy of Pediatrics (AAP) to rescind their recommendation for annual influenza vaccination for all children aged six months to 18 years?

Or will our public health policy continue to be guided by the entrenched pharmaceutical industry?

When evidence suggests that current vaccine recommendations are harming children it is unethical to delay issuing a cautionary advisory by invoking "more studies are needed" to delay action. Public health policy should be guided by the precautionary principle--"Above all, do no harm"--not by business interests.

Greetings!

It's fall again and life is moving into full swing.  School, work, schedules, commitments, kids, etc. begin to take on a life of their own.  It is important that we don't get swept up in the commotion and forget to take care of our own and our family's health.  Rest, proper nutrition, exercise and proper nervous system functioning are important concerns that if disregarded will limit our ability to cope with the daily challenges life offers us.

The purpose of this publication is to keep you informed about new research regarding chiropractic and other healthcare options to increase your knowledge about the opportunities available to maintain your health. In this way you will be able to make more informed choices regarding your healthcare.

Sincerely,
Martin Rosen, DC

Biomechanics and Your Health
I
Dr. Roger Sperry, Nobel Laureate and scientist postulated that as much as 90% of the brain's energy output is used to relate the physical body to one of the most basic laws on this planet... gravity, i.e. relating your structural framework to your spatial surroundings. (e.g. the sidewalk you walk on.)  Dr. Sperry's research found that the remaining ten percent of the brain's energy output is utilized for cognition (thinking), metabolism and healing.

The more biomechanically out of balance a person is the less energy he or she has for healing, metabolism and thinking.
When you are in perfect balance the ratio of available resource is divided up in the 90-10 split. When your nervous system is compromised due to internal or external stressors no longer is the 90% resource enough to maintain basic balance.

The body must 'tap" or 'leach' more energy away from the 10% just to maintain base balance. The 10% is now reduced to 8%, 5%, 3% - who knows. Now, not only is less resource available for thinking, metabolism and healing but creativity, sleep, joy and tapping the highest expression of who you are.

When we are in biomechanical balance it frees up the innate intelligence within your body to do its thing!

Chiropractic adjustments restore the integrity and biomechanical function to the spine, cranium and nervous system reducing or removing physiological stress on the joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves, and fascia
Advances in Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is poised to make a big splash in the medical realm. Wellness care by doctors of chiropractic may reduce health care costs, improve health behaviors and enhance patient perceived quality of life.

However, what many researchers have focused on is the fact that chiropractic adjustments affect the chemistry of biological processes on a cellular level.

A Landmark Study

Researchers found that chiropractic care could affect the basic physiological processes that influence oxidative stress and DNA repair.

Comparing serum thiol (primary antioxidant; measure of human health status) levels in nearly 50 patients receiving short- or long-term chiropractic care with 30 patients who were treated with non-chiropractic methods, researchers found:

Independent of age, sex or taking nutritional supplements, long-term chiropractic care of two or more years re-established a normal physiological state in patients.

Patients receiving chiropractic care showed higher mean serum thiol levels, compared to patients with active disease, and produced some values that were higher than normal wellness values.

Moreover, chiropractors apply spinal adjustments to correct disturbances of nerve function; thus, chiropractic care appears to improve a patient's ability to adapt to stress.
