What's up at the Statehouse...

On January 29, the House Ways & Means Subcommittee known as Legal, Executive and Local Government conducted the budget hearing for the Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism.  Helen Hill, Executive Director of the Charleston Area CVB, had an opportunity to address the subcommittee as it relates to the importance of the Destination Specific Marketing program.  According to SC PRT, the program has a 300% return on investment. Charleston is not the only destination in South Carolina to participate in collecting a $1 per room night...Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Columbia have similar programs.  On February 26, SC PRT will make the same presentation to a Senate Finance Subcommittee.

What can you do to ensure that the state continues to invest in our marketing programs?  Contact the following lowcountry legislators serving on House Ways & Means and share with them how important SC PRT's marketing dollars are to our local CVB and your business specifically.  Click on the names of the following members to email them directly: Rep. Annette Young, Rep. Chip Limehouse and Rep. Jim Merrill.
