| A message from the desk of Dan Blumenstock... |

I would like to thank you for the opportunity of serving as your GCHMA President for the past two years. We have seen amazing growth not only in the Association but the industry as a whole. Together we have made major strides towards educating our elected officials in the importance of funding our industry. Whether it was requesting an increase in the federal per diem or establishing the Destination Specific Marketing fund, our local industry has acted with one voice to accomplish a great deal.
We also have pulled together to increase the private sector resources available to help maintain the Charleston area's presence as a top-rated destination. Although times are tight, our CACVB has continued to move forward and help us all gain market share.
Finally, we have all continued to support local education initiatives to ensure that are incoming workforce is prepared to enter the field with the knowledge needed. The Association will remain committed to the ever-expanding programs at the Culinary Institute of Trident Technical College, the College of Charleston and the local high schools with the Lodging Management Program in place.
Again, thank you to each of you for your membership and time. I look forward to continuing to work with you as our industry meets the challenges ahead and continues to serve our area as the number one industry! |
