Laura Bennett, star of Bravo TV's Project Runway Season 3, at the 2007 Charleston Fashion Week. The second annual Charleston magazine's Charleston Fashion Week is a five-night celebration of the city's flourishing retail and design community, featuring runway shows from more than 30 local retailers, the bridal couture show, and the debut of six local designers. With close to 100 designers presented, chic after-parties each night, and a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Charleston chapter of Dress for Success, this year's Charleston Fashion Week will be the "haute"-est event of the season. CFW 2008 will be held March 25-29 under the tents in Marion Square in downtown Charleston. Visit www.charlestonfashionweek.com for more information regarding the designers, schedule of events, sponsors, tickets, and more.

A Thrilling (and chilly) Success!!!
The CACVB Sales
Team along with Doubletree Guest Suites, Embassy Suites Airport/Convention Center, The
Francis Marion Hotel, The Mills House Hotel, Renaissance Charleston, Wild Dunes
Resort and The Hyland Group shared some southern hospitality with the meeting
planners of Chicago.
On February 26th,
we hosted a luncheon in one of Chicago's newest restaurants, Table Fifty-Two.
Chef Art Smith open the restaurant seven months ago and due to its popularity there are no available
reservations for nine months. He is very popular in the Chicago area and rightfully so, he is Oprah
Winfrey's personal chef. He prepared a
very southern lunch for us which included
items such as deviled eggs, catfish and grits and his signature Hummingbird cake
for dessert.
The
Hyland Group of Chicago assisted our sales team by inviting 20 qualified
meeting planners representing companies from Pepsi to the Society of
Architectural Historians. We are receiving very positive feedback from the planners and setting dates for
site inspections.
The CACVB staff also assisted with the South Carolina Campaign themed "Time To Thaw" and supported by a Web site at www.TimeToThaw.com. This is an innovative collaboration between SCPRT, its ad agencies and BIG Media Sales LLC, a Chicago-based firm that markets the garages as a medium for marketing and advertising messages. Running mid-February to mid-March, the campaign will include a combination of unexpected elements, including large garage interior wall murals, elevator and stairwell conversions, trolley and bus wraps and on-board videos, and a 20-foot-long, custom-built sculpture created by The Sand Sculpture Company of suburban Chicago. In addition, the campaign includes a photo contest inviting people to shoot images of themselves onboard a windsurfer in the Grant Park North garage, with a chance to win prizes. Check out this cool YouTube video to see more!
