Stop It!

by Denise Hedges

If you want to truly be a Pig of Happiness, you have to do certain things to keep a positive, uplifting vibration alive on an ongoing basis.

The response to Barbara's article last month was fantastic!  Thanks to all of you who responded and to the winners of our 5 free books, Therese, Cindy, Carole, Marie, and Dee.

If you want to see some of the things people do to keep their vibration elevated, take a look below.  There's some good stuff there.

The bottom line is that whatever you do to turn things around when you start to get bummed out, or you're stuck in a bad place ... or you just want to stay in a good place, it has to be something that works for you and something that you do habitually.

Okay, so that's what you do to get / keep your mind, body, and spirit in a place that feels good and empowering.  To get more technical on you, it's what you do to induce a positive change in your mental, emotional and physical state.

But just as important ... maybe more important ... is what you might want to stop doing.   You know, like complaining, or obsessing over mistakes you've made in your life, or worrying, or beating yourself up, or clinging to some hurt from the past.

Because if you don't stop doing the stuff that brings you down, it's pretty hard, if not impossible, to dwell in the realm of the good, the happy, the hopeful, the uplifting, and the possible.

So, take a moment and think about it.  What are you doing, what are you thinking, what emotional baggage are you holding onto that bums you out?  What fears do you keep dredging up to spook yourself?  What persistent complaint are you not letting go of?

I can't lose weight.

I should have accomplished more ... in my day and in my life.

It's always something!

I'm afraid of failure, or success, or getting old, or missing out, or being alone, or getting sick.

The other kids made fun of me and called me names when I was young.

I'll never have any money.

We all have 'em.  And some are more serious than others in nature.  I get that.  You can understand how someone who's been injured, abused, cheated, mistreated or otherwise had it rough might dwell on the injury, abuse, mistreatment, etc., even though dwelling on it doesn't help.  I don't want to minimize the hurt.  I've been there.  I've been widowed twice.

But I'm really talking here mostly about the things we grind away on almost reflexively on a daily basis that get us down.

If you're ever going to be really happy most of the time, you have to let that stuff go.  Maybe more to the point, you have to train yourself, you have to discipline yourself to let that stuff go.  Let it go!

When you feel yourself going there, STOP IT!  Just don't allow yourself to go to that place.  Don't indulge yourself in misery.  Think about something else, distract yourself, do one of the things you do to keep your vibration elevated, but the thing you have to do first is ... STOP IT!

Here's a little video one of my clients sent me that gets the point across better than I ever could.  Take a minute.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Love,

Denise

What Piggies Do To Be Happy

by Our Esteemed Readers

Here's a condensed "shorthand" version of the dozens of responses we received last month to our question ...  What do you do to keep your personal energy up and raise your vibration when it's down?

Notice that every single one of these things is a simple act.  There's nothing exotic here.  These things don't take any time to speak of, require no real effort, and they don't cost any money.

The bottom line ... happiness is a state of mind ... and it's free for the taking.

Exercise ... read ... write.

Make art.

Talk to people.

Clean up my mess and organize stuff to figure out what I want to do next.

Ignore negativity and turn negatives to positives.

Think about positive things.

Hang around people with the same goals and interests in mind, who support me and make me laugh.

Be around girlfriends.

Give a smile or hello to everyone you come in contact with.

Walk every day.

Limit the time I spend listening to depressing news on the radio and TV.

Meditate.

Meet new people.

Sit on my porch and eat popsicles in the 90-degree heat and focus on the beauty of the sky and trees, or be with my kids, focus on them and their laughter and stories.

Volunteer ... dropping donations at the Ronald McDonald House and remodeling a school where 98% of the students live in poverty.  It reminds me that what I consider problems are not that bad and shouldn't get me down.

Set a prayer of intention for the business of the day.

Express gratitude.

Trust that things'll work out.

Speak out loud to myself little statements of encouragement and breeeeeathe deeply.

Think of my sweet little 4-year old granddaughter.

Focus on what I have, rather than what I don't.

Pray.

Read upliifting material.

Picture my puppy running through his favorite dog park.

Associate with happy, upbeat people.

Look at cute pictures of kids on my computer screen.

Gaze at my sweet doggie, who loves us unconditionally and always has a smile on her face.

Stay away from negative people.

Swim and exercise.

Stay in the moment.

Remember my faith.

Read Louise Hay's "I can do it calendar."

Do what I call "flipping my switch."  I consciously choose the other option, which is a better feeling.

Beautiful stuff guys.  We love ya!

For those of you who are pigs in progress ... aren't we all? ... I'd like to recommend a book that made a big difference for me and many of my clients.  You'll find more about the concept of "flipping the switch" there.

It's Excuse Me Your Life Is Waiting by Lynn Grabhorn and I highly recommend you read 15-minutes every day.

You'll love it.
