Creare Diem ... Create the Day!

Nothing outside of you matters when it comes to your happiness and fulfillment.  It just seems like it does.

The power to create your own world, your own joy, is within you ... always.

So why do you give it away?

Why do you surrender authority over your own life to external "forces?"  Why do you allow yourself to be acted upon by circumstances and controlled by those limiting "stories" from your past when you have the power to create your world just as you want it, starting this very moment?

I think I know why, but let me ask you a question.

Where do you focus your attention?  Do you spend more time and energy on:
  • Describing and commenting on what is ... current "reality" as you perceive it, which usually includes your personal problems, problems with the world, obstacles, fears, and limitations, or ...

  • Manifesting your own reality from a bright vision of the future you've created?

What do you spend most of your time thinking about and talking about and acting on?  What is or what will be?  I'm guessing it's the former.

Hey, maybe you're one of the truly exceptional people who lives in possibility most of the time.  But most of us tend to stay stuck in a limitation loop of our own making, captivated by the box we make of our current situation, imprisoned by the hurts of the past.  We're quick to tell a life story that casts us as a victim in a world that's hard.  That's just the way it is, we tell ourselves.  And there's no telling what the fates have in store.

The best you can make of such an uncertain world is to seize the day ... Carpe Diem.  "Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die."

Deep down, I believe in possibility.  I believe in my creative power.  I prefer to say, Creare Diem ... Create the Day!  That's what I'm all about as a person and as a coach.  I'm not interested in making the best of some sorry hand I've been dealt, capturing a little happiness and satisfaction here and there as the fates allow.

I get to say what I want and then I get to have it!  So there.  I declare it.  And I get to help others have what they want.  Nuts to all that depressing inner dialogue that casts me as someone with struggles to endure and hardships to overcome.

And yet lately, it seems that I've been focusing quite a bit on the hardships I've overcome and the struggles I've had to endure.

When I was five years old, I had open heart surgery.  I was the first child to survive this procedure in New York State back in 1959.  The doctors told my parents that it was my fierce determination that enabled me to survive.  That's the good part of the story.

The bad part?  There were a lot of bad parts and I'm not talking just about the fear and pain and confusion.  When they took me to the hospital, my parents told me I was going on vacation.

I've begun working with a practitioner who helps people let go of the physical problems they're experiencing due to childhood trauma.  And I've found myself getting all wrapped up in the past, blaming my parents for their lack of emotional support.

It seems I default to that victim mindset if I'm not disciplined with my thinking and rigorous with my daily practices that help me tap into the power of attraction and focus on what I want.

And let's face it.  There's always a payoff to being the victim.  It absolves you of responsibility for how your life is going and maybe gets you some sympathy.  That's cold comfort, however, when the price you pay is forfeiting your dreams.

And that's what happens, little by little, day by day, when you allow your issues around what is and what's been to weigh you down.  Concentrating on what's wrong and what you don't want keeps you from tapping into your power to have what you do want right now and in the future.  The key is to minimize the time you spend doing this.

Here's the simple truth.  Joy is always just a thought or two away and joyful living full of joyful days can be the norm for you.  All you have to do is choose it, because everything you need to make it happen is within you at this moment and always.

You create the day.

Love,
Denise
