'STOCK STOUT

Coming 3.23
Milk Stout infused with freshly roasted BEANSTOCK COFFEE

Greetings!

After a small tease of spring a week ago, we have been THRUST back into winter once again..bbrrrrr....but don't fear!  We've got plenty of Old Man Winter and Porter to keep you warm!

We're very excited about our upcoming MILK STOUT...being released on 3/1 with a special event (read on)..and the subsequent collaboration we are doing with Beanstock Coffee Roasters with a coffee flavored version we're calling 'Stock Stout, coming out on 3/23.  Between that and some charitable events and fun(d)raising we've got going on.. it really does seem like March will be ALL MADNESS!!

Cheers!

Stargazer Stout is a Milk Stout being sold to  benefit the David Cole Observatory at the Cobb Astro Park located in the town of Barnstable

On March 1st, Cape Cod Beer will release a new beer called Stargazer Stout. $2 from the sale of every growler (new or refill) will go towards the purchase of a new telescope mount for the 14 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope housed at the observatory. To learn more about the project, please read our press release. Stargazer Stout will only be available at the brewery in growlers.  Growlers prices are the same as for our other beers: $12.50 for new growlers, $7.50 for refills.

To kickoff our fundraising efforts and this new beer, Cape Cod Beer is hosting a Release Party at HOUSE OF BUD's on March 1st.  House of Bud's is located at 959 Bearses Way in Hyannis (next to the Cape Codder) where Stargazer Stout along with Cape Cod Red and Beach Blonde Ale will be pouring.   Munchies and a cash bar provided.   Come celebrate this fun and creative fundraising effort!

Tshirts to Support the Cause... Available 3/1

Check out this great slide show that describes the Astro Park, Memorial Garden and Observatory located at Barnstable High School.  In the slide show it shows the telescope and its mount.

It also shows the photos the telescope can take and mentions the "drift" that causes the photos to be blurry.  This new mount will resolve that.  The new mount costs $6,000.

It will take MORE than just the $2 from every beer will sell to finish this project, so we hope that the community will also consider a donation.  (One batch is about 1,000 growlers, so we know for sure at least $2,000 will be raised!)  If everyone who bought one, threw in another dollar we'd half way there!

We are happy to accept cash or check donations directly at the brewery - you can toss some money in the fish bowl or drop off a check.   Checks should be made out to the Barnstable Education Foundation.

If you have any questions about the beer or this project, please do not hesitate to call Beth Marcus at 508-790-4200.

Tshirts will be available for sale starting 3/1.

HAVE YOU MADE YOUR VOICE HEARD?

The county meets tomorrow!

There is a push by NSTAR to spray herbicide from one end of Cape Cod to the other.  We here at Cape Cod Beer, along with a group of concerned citizens have some serious concern about the possible effects to our water supply...the same water supply we use to make Cape Cod Beer.

What we know as of this point....in a nutshell...

The Ad Hoc Committee will present their "findings" on 2/23.  We plan to attend this meeting.  From the press we've read and the people we have talked to, we know that the committee did not take input from the public and there is question about whether there was equal and sufficient represenation of and for residents concerned about water quality. We're trying to be kind here.. bottom line.. it seems "stacked", and when the 3 people who seemed most concerned about water resigned...well that said something too!

It was been recommended to us that people who have issue with the committee and it's pre-published results should say so to the County and their delegate.    Here is exactly what it said: http://www.barnstablecounty.org/news/first-meeting-of-the-barnstable-county-ad-hoc-committee-on-risk-analysis-vegetation-management-friday-october-1-2010

Special thanks to Laura Kelly for getting the word out on this issue!

You can email the county via the chair Bill Doherty bdoherty@barnstablecounty.org

You could cc the other commissioners if you want.  mflynn@barnstablecounty.org    and  slyons@barnstablecounty.org

You should also cc your own delegate...whose email you can find here by town

Tell them you are concerned.  Tell them why.

It would be GREAT if you also called NSTAR CEO Tom May at 617-424-2527 and tell him you are concerned about our drinking water. If the mailbox is full, call 617-424-2000 and tell the operator you want to leave a message for Tom May.  or email him at thomas.may@nstar.com
