Hoppy New Year from Cape Cod Beer |
|
|
Greetings!
Sorry this is a couple days late...Beth & I took a few days off between Christmas and New years, and well...we forgot to send it! As we look forward to 2011, we would like to take at least a moment to reflect back on 2010. It was a GREAT year for Cape Cod Beer. While the final numbers are not yet final, we know for sure: - We brewed 260 batches of fresh local beer..that's one every day excluding weekends!
- We went from 2 year round beers to 3! Hello Beach Blonde Ale! Welcome!
- We hired a bunch of new people, including: Brett Holmes, Chris Reichers, Bob Cordeira, Ron Cotti (started 1/3) and David Meece (who starts 1/10)
- We said goodbye to some wonderful friends who have moved onto bigger and better things, incuding Blake Decker, Chris Meyer and Scott Ogden.
- We continued to expand our "local products" section, and are proud to say that in 2010 76 cents of every dollar spent on purchasing retail goods was spent RIGHT HERE ON CAPE COD! Amazing huh?!
- We hosted our first annual LAST GASP BEER BASH...and as a team raised a total of $34,900. This is an AMAZING number we HOPE to beat again in 2011!
- Launched a great new website, with the help of our friends at Penguin Digital Design and expanded our use of Facebook and Twitter.
- We served beer at a multitude of local events and donated to hundreds of charitable organizations in our community.
- ..and best yet, we had fun doing it!
Why am I telling you all this? Because we could not have done it without you! Honestly! Each and every person who drinks, asks for, supports, refills, serves, sells, recommends and mentions Cape Cod Beer to his or her friends MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE in our success. So on New Years Eve, when Beth and I raised our glasses to toast in the New Year, we thanked our lucky stars for friends like you! We could never have accomplished all of this without you! THANK YOU! But wait.. there's more.. TWO NEW BEERS in the next two weeks! Wow! |

What's with the Half Dollars? Change? Really?
Effective January 1 2011, there was a repeal of the Massachusetts Sales Tax inacted in August of 2009. Since we have always charged a price that prevented the need for "change", when we took the tax out it made a refill $7.53 and a new fill $10.35...and well, that just seemed like a BAD IDEA! So we rounded to $7.50 and $10.50 and started handing out half dollars...cuz we're a little different? But you knew that already right!?
Please be forewarned that this may only be for a few months, as the grain price increases we are seeing for 2011 will more than likely cause a price increase in the spring. But for now, enjoy the change!
