Tips for Your New Kitchen
Getting ready for your new home is a great time to start fresh; fresh in the pantry that is. Discard all your existing spices, flour, sugar, etc and start the new kithen with the freshest ingredients.
Map out your kitchen before unpacking. Simple "post-its" identifing the task to be performed in each area will expedite getting every thing set up and organzied for all the wonderful meals your family will soon enjoy.

Holiday Stress Can Be Relieved by Simplicity
It seems everywhere we look these days the new trend is paring down; living more simply than we have in the past. A recent NBC news series began by stating that since 1970, the average home has increased in size by 1,000 square feet. Homes now average 2,600 square feet and yet almost everyone has an outside storage unit for the stuff in their life. Items never used or seen. Let's keep the economy going, but try to only purchase gifts that are useful and desired. Don't try to do more during this season than your calendar allows. Is it really necessary to entertain three times each week? Shopping online can also save lots of time. When decorating your home, remember what goes up must come down. If you dread the thought of packing everything up after the holidays, decorate with only the items that you really love and have meaning. See if a simpler holiday does not turn out to be the best yet, then apply then same to your new year. Want to take decorating off your list? Senior Moves and Elder Organizing
As plans are made for the move to a independent or assisted living community remember the living space is most likely 500 square feet. This will be more livable and functional once they are settled. Furniture should not have hard edges incase there are slips or falls. If possible use a full bed instead of queen size to allow more room. Holiday Tip for Your Elder Parent: As space is smaller now that your loved ones are settled in their residential communities, you may think gift giving will be difficult. Create a photo book that holds precious memories. Your parents will enjoy revisiting their past and sharing with the neighbors. Your book can be a standard photo album or make use of easy accessed programs like My Publisher or Shutterfly.
