CST Covers, formerly TemcorConservatek,
is a global design/build firm with expertise in high-strength aluminum signature solutions such as spaceframes, domes, environmental enclosures, canopies, large span, and specialty lightweight structures designed with corrosion resistant material for unique eco-friendly applications.
Sustainability requirements present a long list of challenges for architects and designers, but with CST Covers architectural systems, the ability to create bold, innovative new designs isn't one of them. Fabricated from lightweight, 100% recyclable aluminum components suited for both overhead and vertical applications, our integrated architectural systems ideally blend form and function to provide unmatched building envelope shape and geometric form options.
Aluminum meets economic goals because of its higher strength-to-weight ratio than most other metals or materials. Aluminum is one of the most efficient structural materials providing equal strength as steel at less than 1/3rd the weight. The non corrosive attribute of aluminum provides a lifecycle unmatchable by any other material on the planet. Using high strength, low weight material results in a reduction of both project material cost as well as associated transportation cost.

Aluminum - A Sustainable Structural Choice
CEU Course coming online - May 1st!
CST Industries sponsors CEU course with Architectural Records Continued Education Learning Center. The online course is to be published May 1st at ceu.construction.com. See announcements in Architectural Record's and ENR's May editions. This course will:
- Discuss the efficiency of using lightweight, recyclable aluminum in clear-span structures by eliminating secondary structural members.
- Compare how aluminum is an efficient, waste reducing alternative to steel in overhead, sloped and vertical applications.
- Avoid maintenance and life cycle costs by specifying a product that is durable and resists corrosion.
- Explore case studies of geometric structural designs used for lattice and spaceframe aluminum structures that have received green building certifications.

CST's Solution for the Francis A. Gregory Library - Aluminum over Steel
Watch video here on engineering.com
Cantilevering over 30 feet on a flat roof proved to be a design
challenge for architects, Wiencek + Associates and Adjaye Associates. CST developed a lightweight system utilizing aluminum which alleviated 2/3 of the weight and allowed for this graceful structure to float atop the roof of the new Francis A. Gregory Library in Washington, DC. CST Engineers utilized innovative software and an unique design approach to create a dynamic signature structure.
